On day 3 of our Clean Tech Energy Network (#CTEN) North Carolina roadshow we stopped by Smart Wires Inc. who are developing grid optimization solutions with potential applications across Africa's power sector. Thanks Ted Bloch-Rubin and Sugam Patel for the lab tour. It was great to get a first-hand view of product development! Later, we joined the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster for their VIP Event and Cleantech Innovation Awards, showcasing North Carolina's innovative energy tech ecosystem. We're exploring how these solutions can support Africa's energy future. Through CTEN, we're building bridges between U.S. companies and African markets. On day 2 of our Clean Tech Energy Network (#CTEN) roadshow in North Carolina we visited Duke University to explore how American innovation is creating sustainable solutions for both U.S. and African markets! ➡ Key highlight of yesterday’s activities: Students competing in the 12th annual Energy in Emerging Markets Case Competition! These future energy leaders are tackling real-world challenges. The challenge this year was to develop a solution for Zembo, a Ugandan e-mobility pioneer company that aims to build the nation’s largest battery-swapping network for electric motorcycles. Mozambique is set to boost its energy sector with its first utility-scale wind farm! Thanks to a $54M loan from the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), including $12M from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) fund, which Power Africa supports, the 120 MW Namaacha wind farm will diversify energy resources, improve energy access, and support regional trade via the Southern African Power Pool.
