#AdoptionDiscrimination #WorkplaceSupport #EmpathyMatters Hey there, everyone! I wanted to share my experience and get your thoughts on something that's been weighing heavily on me. As an adoptee who reconnected with my biological family over 20 years ago, I’ve developed a significant bond with them. Unfortunately, I lost my biological dad in May, and it hit me hard. I was on my way to work when I found out, and after telling my boss, her response was shocking: “Oh, but not like your real dad, so you can work." 😢 Honestly, I was in disbelief and just stunned. This was my first experience with parental loss, and I felt pressured to work my shift. Fast forward a bit, and I noticed something that really upset me: since then, four of my coworkers have lost family members, and they were all granted time off, condolence cards, and, in one case, even pay! Yet, I was expected to work the day of my dad’s memorial, with barely any leeway to adjust my schedule. I can't help but wonder: **Is... Is My Adoption Status Leading to Workplace Discrimination? #AgencyLife #TimingIsEverything #ClientRelationships Let’s talk about timing in agency work—am I the only one who feels like it’s everything? 😊 Just recently, I had a bit of a rollercoaster experience that got me thinking. So, last month, I connected with a brand-new client, sent over some resumes, and boom—they were thrilled and hired right away! 🎉 But then, just four days later, they reached out about a new role. Here’s where it gets tricky… No Candidates Ready: We didn’t have anyone in the pipeline for this new position. All Hands on Deck: I spent the next two weeks hustling to find great candidates. The Big Letdown: Just when I thought we were on the right track, they said, “Actually, we don’t need to fill this role anymore. Budget didn’t get approved.” Talk about a punch to the gut! 😩 It felt like a trust-building moment turned into a giant waste of effort. It’s frustrating because when you think you have that rapport, it stings to see your hard work hit a wall. These momen... Is Perfect Timing the Key to Success in Agency Business? #FutureOfHR #RemoteWork #HRCareers #JobMarketTrends Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve been going through the HR curriculum at my college and comparing it with IT. It’s got me wondering: what’s the outlook like for HR, especially considering the rise of remote work? 💻 I’ve noticed a lot of layoffs in HR and IT lately, and it makes me a bit uncertain about what the future holds for us in HR roles. 🤔 Here are a few pain points I see that could be affecting job stability in HR: Increased Automation: Many HR tasks are being automated, which can lead to fewer job opportunities. Changing Business Needs: Companies are evolving, and so are their requirements – some HR roles might be becoming obsolete. Market Saturation: With the influx of professionals entering the field, competition is fierce! However, there's a silver lining! 🌟 Remote work has also opened up **new possibilities** for HR professionals, like: Broader Talent Pool: HR can now hire from anywhere, which can bring in d... #JobHunting #FreeLabor #WorkplaceEthics #FreelanceLife Hey everyone! 🙋♂️ I just wanted to share a pretty wild experience I had during my job search last year. So, I applied to this marketing firm, and as part of their interview process, they asked me to whip up a communications plan for a new social media service they were launching. I spent a good amount of time on it—five pages of solid ideas, strategies, and all that jazz. They were super impressed! 🎉 But then, out of nowhere, they decided they didn’t have the budget for the role anymore. I was bummed but understood; it's a tough world out there. So, I took back access to the Google doc and moved on. Fast forward about three days, and they shot me an email—furious that they could no longer access my plan. Apparently, they wanted to roll it out the next month! 😳 I calmly reminded them that since the plan was part of a skills assessment for a job I didn’t get, they couldn’t just use my work for free. I told them they would need to c... Did a Marketing Firm Exploit My Free Labor for Their Gain? Answers: https://lnkd.in/ejvmbFZQ

#OnboardingChallenges #NewJoiner #HiringConcerns Hey everyone! I’m reaching out to get some advice on a tricky situation that just popped up with a new joiner. So here’s the scoop: A new team member emailed me on Thursday at 11 AM, just two days before their starting date, asking to push it back by a week. 😱 They were all set to start the following Monday. I shot them a quick reply explaining that it’s not ideal since we’ve got group onboarding planned for a bunch of new hires, and we’d like everyone to be there. They came back with a pretty apologetic response, citing a family function they just found out about—it's out of town and, oh yes, it's during the festive season. Now, here’s the thing: I personally think it’s a bit of a poor move to ask for such a significant change at the last minute. 🤔 I mean, unless it’s an absolute emergency, would you even consider pushing a start date back? It makes me wonder about their commitment and punctuality. My boss is serio... How Should You Handle a New Joiner's Last-Minute Delay Request? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gxd4_qxw

Here’s the thing—we pour our time and effort into countless applications, and when an offer finally comes in, it can feel like a huge victory. But then you start to wonder… is this job really what I wanted? Pay and Benefits: You might settle for less than you imagined because you're anxious to land something. But then you find yourself questioning if it’s really enough to live comfortably. Location: If you’re in a tricky job market, you might end up in a role that’s far from where you’d like to be, dealing with long commutes or costly relocations. #WorkplaceConcerns #HRAdvice #MaternityLeave #Florida #RemoteWork Hey everyone! Just a quick heads-up, I’m using a throwaway account because I’d rather keep this under wraps. So, here’s the story: I’m based in Florida and mostly work from home for a Florida company that recently joined forces with a larger Texan company. My supervisor is remote and hails from Maine. Right now, she's stepping in as the interim department lead while they search for a replacement. She has a bit of a checkered past with communication issues—like saying projects are done when they’re not and claiming credit for others’ work. 😬 Recently, I was informed by a coworker who is about to go on maternity leave that my supervisor asked her, during a work call, if she knew whether I had any plans to get pregnant. This really caught me off guard! I've had my own struggles with fertility, and it feels deeply invasive to be asked such personal questions at work. 🌸 Here’s where I’m at: I absolutely love my job and ... #FluShotEvent #EmployeeEngagement #HRChallenges Hey everyone! 🙋♀️ I need to share a frustrating experience that just happened with our annual flu shot event. With over 120 employees, I set up this initiative to ensure everyone has access to free flu vaccines, but here's the kicker: only 1 person signed up! 😟 As the only HR person managing this event for the first time, I had 20 time slots available, plus room for walk-ins. I expected a bigger turnout, especially with all the reminders I sent to managers, the signs posted around the office, and emails I circulated. And yet, here we are, just a day away from the event, feeling a bit deflated. Here are some pain points that I think contribute to this situation: Awareness: Despite pushing out information, it seems like many employees either missed the messages or aren't taking it seriously. Prioritization: With everything on our plate, wellness initiatives like this can take a backseat to daily tasks. Vaccine Hesitancy: There might...
