Wellness Requires Intentional Daily Action

Wellness Requires Intentional Daily Action

Daily actions, even small, add up to massive results. Over time, the compounding effect of our daily actions shapes who we are.

Each day presents an opportunity to nourish our bodies, nurture our minds, and foster our spirits. From the simple act of choosing nutrient-rich foods to engaging in moments of mindfulness and movement. Wellness becomes a mosaic of intentional actions.

By infusing our routines with purposeful decisions that prioritise self-care, we unlock the power of consistent, intentional steps toward a more vibrant and balanced life.

Start small.

🥤A glass of water each morning.

🧘♀️ 5 minutes of breath work each day.

💕 A daily gratitude practice - list 3-5 things.

🌳 Spend time in nature each day, even a few minutes.

🏃♀️ Move your body with intention each day in a way that works for you.

💤 Prioritise your sleep.

🍉 Eat more fruit and vegetables.

📴Turn off your devices and be present as much as possible.

🌺 Stop and smell the roses or notice whatever will make you smile.

😂 Laugh more.

Building daily actions is one of the simplest ways to transform your wellness. It's also the most accessible.

Sometimes we underestimate the power we have with our wellness strategies. Improving our overall wellbeing through daily wellness starts with us. These little things can change how we feel almost instantly.

I would love for you to reply and let me know what your daily rituals are to ensure you feel well, work well and live well.

Amy, I agree these are small daily actions that people can forget to include in their day when they are under pressure to perform, meet deadlines or learn new skills etc. I often talk about making time to save time. Intentionally giving time to oneself to enjoy aspects of the day eases the mind, drops the shoulders, helps the breath to flow and in doing so the day ahead flows more easily too. For example - I have a rose bush outside my front door. When the roses are in bloom my daily ritual when leaving the house is to breathe in the perfume of the roses - and every day I leave for work with a smile on my face!!

“It’s *all* choice”?? Yes, we can always make conscious choices for small aspects of our daily lives. However, if we review the related wellbeing research we see it is much more complex and nuanced than this. We cannot ‘choose’ our wellbeing path when in certain circumstances. For example, we cannot underestimate the effects of discrimination on a daily basis, e.g. internalised racism, sexism. Or even choose to walk away from our trauma. We know that such things affect brain structure and stunt our wellbeing development. I suggest some reading around brain research, trauma, racism, and other aspects such as this to expand your understanding of wellbeing. I would also be very careful to not place the responsibility of wellbeing on a person’s doorstep, as this is a neoliberal framing of it and extremely concerning. It enables governments to renounce their responsibility for financial support and societal changes at an infrastructural level, etc. 30% of our children now live below the breadline in the UK - how does this affect their and their family’s wellbeing choices do you think? 🧐

I agree wholeheartedly, wellbeing starts with the smallest of daily things, or as Julian Stodd Quiet Leadership frames it, our words, our mindset, our actions in every day. Happy Days! 😎☮️🙏🏻
