Sweet Life Not Sweet Blood

Sweet Life Not Sweet Blood

Do you know that sugar makes you age faster?

Glycation, something that’s very likely to happen when you hit high blood sugar levels. Sadly but consequently, you will get wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging because it damages proteins in the body and speeds up the aging process.

Additionally, high blood sugar levels can increase inflammation in the body, which can lead to joint pain or even some aging-related diseases such as heart disease and Alzheimer's disease.

  • Eat a balanced diet: A balanced diet that's rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats can help keep blood sugar levels stable.
  • Monitor blood sugar levels: If you're at risk for high blood sugar levels, it's important to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Your doctor can help you determine how often you should check your blood sugar levels.
  • Exercise regularly: Exercise can help improve blood sugar control by increasing insulin sensitivity. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
  • Manage stress: High levels of stress can contribute to high blood sugar levels. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as meditation or yoga.
  • Choose foods wisely: Some foods are particularly beneficial for blood sugar control, such as leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains. Incorporate these foods into your diet to help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Additionally, some supplements can help control blood sugar levels. Here are a few that have been shown to be effective:

  • Magnesium: Magnesium helps regulate insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake in the cells. People who tend to consume less magnesium typically have poorer blood sugar regulation and a higher risk of type 2 diabetes than people who consume higher amounts of Magnesium.
  • Chromium: Chromium is an essential nutrient for the maintenance of normal glucose tolerance and its deficiency causes insulin resistance.
  • Berberine and dihydroberberine: Berberine is a compound found in several plants, including goldenseal and barberry. It has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing glucose production in the liver. Dihydroberberine is a metabolite of berberine in the gut that has better absorption and bioavailability. Both berberine and dihydroberberine have been shown to be effective in improving blood sugar control, and may also have other health benefits such as reducing inflammation and improving cholesterol levels.
  • Adaptogens: adaptogens help your body restore balance, so, when your blood sugar spikes, they may help stabilize insulin and glucagon to help maintain optimal blood glucose level. Such adaptogens include American ginseng, Ginseng, Sutherlandia, Houttuynia cordata and so on.

Remember, blood sugar level is not just a number, not just for diabetes, it is an important factor for healthy aging and everyone, so, do not wait to take care of it until you have to rely on drugs.

Cathy Sun thanks for the information. I guess the most pressing problem with sugar is that we eat food where we do not expect any sugar in it.
