Stoking the fire – How to show grit & resilience during uncertainty

Stoking the fire – How to show grit & resilience during uncertainty

‘We do not come to fear future. We came here to shape it’ – Barack Obama

It is not wise to say that everything is okay or all stars are aligning as per our wish. But it is also not wise to say that nothing is working or there is no possibility.

Life is definitely full of surprises. Some white and some black balls. How well you can juggle, will determine the quality of your life.

How to show grit and resilience during the odd days?

  • Accept what you can control – Since childhood we practice a lot on

-         How to get things!

-         How to grab the opportunities!

-         How to not give up!

But it is equally important to practice one more thing, which is –

-         How to say no!

-         How to leave the mess!

-         How to put few things aside!

I am not saying that you give up but I am saying that ‘NOT EVERYTHING IS IN YOUR CONTROL’ and you must learn to accept it.

  • Embrace change – Things will certainly change. Sometimes things are unpredictable.  Not everything will exactly be the same throughout (neither individuals nor the things). Life is about possibilities and surprises; anything can happen at any moment of time. That is why people say that education and wisdom are super power. You need to be wise enough to accept, embrace and celebrate change and also keep walking forward. If you can bring on people along with you while you are moving forward then you will become an absolute asset in this world and for the generations to come.

  • Maintain the positive outlook – Maintaining a positive outlook does not mean that everything is okay but it means that you believe that things will be better in the future or you will be wise enough to move forward without being bitter. A positive outlook will take you to places where you have never imagined yourself to be. It is one of the most important things to practice in life.

What does failure do to you? Do you cry? Do you crib? Do you stay on your bed the whole day? OR it pushes you to do something more?  It pushes you to drive a change in the world? It gives you a reason to be more and to be better?

What does failure do to you?!!!!??!!

  • Know who you are – Never forget who you are. You are a being, you have got infinite strength, potential, and wisdom. You are full of capabilities and possess great power to do things beyond your imagination. You possess infinite power to do things beyond possibilities. Listen to your heart and instincts. Know who you are – A child of God! Be a better one. Never average, always starve for the best!

  • Choose emotional control – The more you practice control, the better you become at it. Do not give an instant emotional reaction to things. It’s easier said than done. But we all are learning how to be better. It cannot happen that you believe one thing and overnight you become that person, it will take time, be patient with yourself. Try again and again and once again and if you still fall down, you try once again and you will learn how to gain control over yourself.

  • Love yourself and make real connections – Look at how far you have come. You love others so much so –

why don’t you love yourself on an everyday basis?

Why don’t you believe in yourself on an everyday basis?

Why don’t you clap for yourself on an everyday basis?

People are powerful and sometimes they are a blessing in life. Make good connections with people, a real one. Go out and spend some real-time with your loved ones, when was the last time you went out for a coffee date with your best friend? When did you have your last dinner with your parents or siblings? When did you go out with your grandparents for a walk and talk meet?

These are the little joy that adds colour in life and helps us to live joyfully and bravely.

Always bounce back and do things, work hard, build bridges, make efforts, do your best you can, and be patient but if still, things aren’t working then, I am not saying that leave it but saying that -  put it on to the floor with a hope that one day it will improve and move forward.

Sometimes all you have to do is to – ‘Take the best and leave the rest’ – Richard Branson

Never be afraid to rewrite your destiny. If required, go out and align your stars on your own! Be the hero!!

Wishing you all the strength and joy.
