Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal 2024

Marie Curie is a charity that everyone has heard of and might know friends or family that have used this charity. They rely on kind donations from supporters to continue their vital services.

This a charity that is very close to the heart for some of our team. Our sales team supported Marie Curie by holding a cake sale, joining in on a local collection day. We are very proud to confirm we raised over a whopping £190 for our efforts.

🎂🎈🎈SIA turn 20!🎈🎈🎂

This year the Security Industry Association turns 20. First established in 2003, the SIA was established to better regulate and ensure the quality of the private security industry. It sought to provide much more stability and security to what’s an essential part of both the private and public sectors.

After first being set up in 2003, on April 2004, the SIA issued their first licence. Today, it now provides the relevant licensing to those who work in security, as well as approves private security companies to be part of its Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS).

Did you know there are now over 430,000 SIA licence holders working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across the UK? From the security guard at your office or local supermarket, to the door supervisor at your favourite pub or nightclub. From the armoured guard carrying the cash you put in your bank savings, or the CCTV operator at your local shopping centre.

Disclosure and Barring Service Update

The DBS has recently published their current average time taken to process all applications:

  • Enhanced – 12 days
  • Standard – 1.5 days
  • Basic – 1 day

They state that the main reason for delay will be if an application needs to be referred to the police service. Although the police force performance remains strong, some of the forces are processing work outside the normal timescales they expect from them.

Have you ever wondering why some criminal record checks take longer than others? We recently published an article about this. To read more about this subject, please refer to our article.
