Some wines are just… Monuments of History !

Some wines are just… Monuments of History !

I recently had a unique chance (privilege) to sample this 1955 Rivesaltes wine by Gérard Bertrand.

Imagining some people harvested the grapes and made them into this bottle some 25 years before I was born, and kept it aging until now that I am over 35+, simply to shared it with me now, made me somehow emotional at tasting it.

The Bonus?

It tasted Gorgeous. Here are my tasting notes: huge luscious intensity, filled with powerful yet elegant flavors of rich dried fruit (fig, dates, apricot).

Tons of sweet spices too, like a gorgeous Christmas pudding.

Rich and oily, sweet but it doesn't feel overly so, rather very well balanced and never weighty.

A luscious, gorgeous and unique tasting Xperience.

Young or old… any wine you taste, remember this: someone’s piece of life (and often passion) has gone into making it and bringing it to you.

That said, it’s been made for fun and our enjoyment, so no need to take it too seriously either ;-)

The sharing is what matters…

Cheers :-)

Julien
