Here’s a book about celestials and power hungry villains called Spell Walkers-fighting it out in a cycle of violence. Emil and Brighton are two brothers who grew up in New York idolizing the walkers. The story escalates  when  Emil manifests a power of his own that makes him the new target even though he just wants the fighting to stop. The Spellwalkers have sworn to get rid of specters in the world because they take the celestial’s powers. Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join forces with the fray while the specters are endangering magical creatures and creating fear within the region. Read this book if you want to find out what happens when the lines of good and evil are blurred and the fate of the world rests upon two brothers to be the unsung heros. I would be excited to watch the visceral battle be made into a movie where we could root for our favourite characters, wouldn’t you?

This book is the sequel to NY bestseller A Curse So Dark and Lonely where the frontrunner Brigid Kemmerer returns to the fantastical world of Emberfall where her friends turn into enemies and where she finds love in the darkest of places. Prince Rehen faces trouble even though his curse is broken as forbidden magic is unleashed in the realm. There are rumors circulating that he is not the true heir to the throne and questions remain why his guardsmen Grey is missing. With a violent plan in place, will Grey ultimately challenge Rhen as he is rumored to be the true heir? I couldn’t wait to turn the page to figure out what happened next. Whoever wins the crown, saves the Kingdom. Thrilling to say the least! We’re wishing this interesting storyline gets adapted into a screenplay soon because who doesn’t wanna see a fantasy land where magic pervades and curses are thrown into the mix.

Prepare to be bewildered as you go along this very terrifying and arduous journey. You will be rooting for little old Jacob as you invest in his development. 10/10 for the plot and the heroism of the main protagonist. Do you think this deserves to be churned into a real live action film? It has everything a feature film offers with limitless  drama and excitement. I feel that a movie could give this a visual representation that exceeds our wildest imaginations.

Alice Proserpine dives into the mesmerizing world of hidden doors and fairy tales. In this book you’ll find menacing creatures and dark themes as you follow her and Ellery Finch as they learn more about The Hazel Wood. Alice managed to escape the Hinterland with Finch’s help while eluding from her reclusive grandmother’s dark legacy. Now she and the rest of the fairy land creatures have washed up in New York City where Alice is living a very normal non-magical life. However, mystery surrounds her as she discovers that someone or something is stalking the Hinterland survivors. Could it be that their deaths have a darker purpose? Only one way to find out. Get this book and revel in its mysteries. Or just wait for the movie. Petition to make this into a big budget action/thriller blockbuster please! Can you imagine watching the beautiful fairies become real as well as a fictional New York where magical creatures roam freely. Come on, this book is screaming to be made into a movie.

In the summer of 1518, a strange sickness pervades through the town of Strasbourg. There are rumors of witchcraft as women dance in the streets and fall down to their death. Lavinia and her family are targeted with suspicion and Lavina  may have to do something unimaginable to save herself and everyone she adores. More than five centuries later, Rosella finds a pair of red shoes, making her dance uncontrollably. They draw her towards a boy who knows the historical secret behind the miraculous dancing. His name is Emil and his family was blamed for the fever five hundred years ago with more that happened. Grab this book if you love superstitious tales and read it to discover if Emil will tell the truth to Rosella so she may survive the red shoes. We’re bummed it's not already adapted into an indie movie like so many before it. It is a good read but imagine if it turned into a movie and the artistic expression came to life? I’d be hooked.

Diamond city is built by magic and ruled by tyrannical beings full of dark forces and hidden agendas. Aina must desperately save the people from lethal enemies and old rivalries if she wants a future for herself. But the world does not want her to survive. You definitely need to get this book if you love a good game of murder and conspiracy. Aina must risk losing everything to seek what she is looking for! Are we convinced that this binge worthy book be turned into a movie? Ofcourse! We’d love to experience it on a screen where we get to see a real diamond city.

Spellhacker by M.K. England  @mk_england

Now here’s a book that’s perfectly well written genre-bending young adult fiction.  In Kyrakarta, magic known as “maz” was once a natural resource freely available to everyone. Then an earthquake hit, releasing a magical plague and killing thousands in number. The door opened for a greedy corporation to make maz a commodity that’s very  tightly controlled and hella expensive.  That’s the reason Diz and her three besties started a highly successful illegal maz siphoning gig on the side with their next job, their last risky heist ever. What had to be a simple plan turned into a disaster, a new strain of maz appears and they must unravel the conspiracy that ensues. You'll love this book if you’re one for saving-the-world types as the spellplague determines what happens next. We’re hoping this gets picked up and gets made into a movie because we’re idealistic and think that anything can happen. I mean who doesn’t LOVE a good conspiracy theory? We’d be nail biting till the end of this flick if it ever turned into an adventure story movie.

Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez @IsabelWriter09

Ximena is chosen as the stand-in for the last remaining Illustrain royal. (yeah kinda like Padme in Star wars).  Her people lost everything when Atoc the usurper destroyed everything by using an ancient relic to drive the Illustrains out from their Land. He summoned ghosts and scared the hell out of them basically. Yikes. Now Ximena is motivated by her insatiable thirst for power and looking to seek revenge. Her special power? The ability to spin thread from moonlight. Cool, right? When Atoc asks for the real Condesa’s hand in marriage, Ximena becomes the decoy instead. She of course is overjoyed at having the chance to be near Atoc, especially when the spies have reported that he is no longer in possession of his deadly relic.  If Ximena can find it, she can return the true aristócrata to their rightful place. Using her abilities, she hunts for the relic by hiding messages in tapestries for the resistance. During her journey, she faces obstacles like coming face to face with a masked vigilante and a thoughtful healer as well as a warm-hearted princess. Suffice to say, it gets very complicated. Definitely want this to be a movie because we don’t wanna miss how Ximena chooses between revenge and Condesa. Seeing it in real time would be a great pleasure. What do you think?

The King of Crows by Libba Bray @libbabray

The Diviners find themselves wanted by the US governments after an explosion that ended with one of their own dying. They are also on the brink of war with the King of Crows. There’s only one girl that can help but she needs the Diviners help to do it. Meanwhile, Memphis and Isaiah run for their lives from the mysterious Shadow Men. It is Isaiah that gets a startling vision of a girl named Sarah Beth Olson who could shift the balance for their struggle for peace. The Diviners must travel to Nebraska to join SArah and stop the King of Crows and his army of dead. There is a shocking truth to be learnt about the King of Crows before he can be defeated forever.  This book is a page turner and if zombie apocalypses are your jam, it's a must read for you! Find out if they can stop the dead from developing unprecedented powers and turn everything into ghost towns before all hope is lost. It’s got a lot of GoT vibes, if you ask me. Fun to read and would be hella fun to see on the big screen. Lots of action sequences and war cinematography would be interesting to see.

Ember Queen by Laura Sebastian @sebastian_lk

Princess Theodosia is renamed The Ash Princess and being a prisoner in her own country, she lives in Kaiser’s court, facing many cruelties and abuse. But she is the rightful heir to the Astrean crown and even though she wears a crown of ashes, there is fire in her blood.  Her mother taught her that a Queen never cowers so she might liberate her people. After she gets free, she has a misfit army of rebels behind her while she faces her enemy: the new Kaiserin. The Kaiserin is determined to burn down everything and everyone in her way and she has a power that no one understands that is getting stronger day by day. As Prinz Soren is her hostage, the stakes are higher than ever. Theo must learn to embrace her own power if she has any hope of standing against the girl she once called her heart’s sister. I love the women empowerment theme in this book and can’t wait for it to be a film some day. Hopefully we’ll get to see a rendition that truly encapsulates the essence of the book.
