The reason your workplace wellbeing programme fails and how to make it a lasting success

Looking after your teams is now more important than ever!

Changes in work and social environments, particularly today, affect both physical and mental health and a tailored wellbeing programme can be the support needed. But how can you make sure it’s worth the money, increasing your ROI and ensuring uptake so the impact lasts?

Workplace Wellbeing feels like a bit of hype at the moment. You will find everything from mindfulness, yoga, gym discounts and cycle schemes, to better lighting and volunteering. Great ideas, but is that it? None of these seem to stick. It’s simply becomes too difficult to incorporate them in your daily life on an ongoing basis. But the one thing we all need to do is eat. Workplace wellness needs to incorporate a strategic nutrition programme - the changes everybody can make to increase their physical and mental health: including certain foods which have an ongoing impact on brain performance, decision-making and mental agility. Then add lifestyle and physical activity to speed up success to a healthier and more productive life – at home and at work.

Forward-thinking CEO’s are keen to support their teams, loving the idea of tailored programmes designed for them, and enthusiastically sign up and handover to HR: all things team-related are normally placed in the HR department but internal communications is as important to the success of the programme as the actual programme itself.

Especially now, when face-to-face interactions are at their minimum – there are no Town Hall all staff meetings, no opportunities to wander around and speak to people directly – communications need to be more specific, more motivational, more effective and efficient.

Workplace Wellbeing is not only a people subject. It’s a promotional subject and should sit within the Internal Communications function to make it a success for everybody!

Clear communications happen when you can facilitate a dialogue, keep your teams up-to-date on what and why this wellbeing programme is happening and promote a culture of engagement.

This is why we have teamed up: to bring businesses a highly successful wellbeing programme for yourself, your leadership team and your workforce but our way of working includes the successful rollout, the communications and the aftercare – real ROI. There is nothing more frustrating than your people showing up for a programme and then walking away without understanding how to put the knowledge into practice, or where the benefits will be.

Internal communications correctly managed, is the difference between your people fully adopting and benefiting from the wellbeing programmes you provide, and it being just something else for them to remember to do. A successful communications programme will engage people before, during and after the programme and make it a massive success for you and your teams.

With engagement and adoption at the right levels internally, we will then deliver the programme, tailored around your needs, your pinch points and the outcome you would like to achieve – for groups and individuals – ultimately lowering absenteeism, sick day and staff turnover costs.

Speak to us today and let us show you how you can help your teams and your company with a wellbeing programme that lasts longer than the end of your presentation deck!

Margaret Oscar (CIIC) It's not just about communication, saying we're a great company, there has to be substance. And if there's a huge demand for wellbeing support, the organisation should think about looking after its staff better
