Our Perfect Day on the Amalfi Coast

Our Perfect Day on the Amalfi Coast

Nestled in the azure waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea on the Amalfi Coast, Capri is a jewel of the Italian coastline. This small Italian island has captivated visitors for centuries with its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and effortless glamour. If you’ve been, you know how magical it is. The island’s allure dates back to ancient times, when Roman emperors like Augustus and Tiberius built opulent villas here, seeking refuge from the bustle of Rome.

Throughout the centuries, Capri has been a haven for artists, writers, and intellectuals drawn to its inspiring landscapes and serene atmosphere. In the 20th century, the island became synonymous with jet-set glamour, attracting Hollywood stars, royalty, and fashion icons. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, known for her impeccable style, famously vacationed here, cementing Capri’s status as a playground for the rich and famous. Other celebs who have vacationed in Capri include Emilio Pucci, Brigitte Bardot, and Gianni Agnelli. The island’s blend of natural wonders, like the iconic Blue Grotto, and chic boutiques along the narrow streets of Capri Town creates an irresistible mix of untamed beauty and refined luxury that continues to enchant visitors from around the world.

The Plan

If you’ve never been but it’s on your list, we have crafted the perfect Amalfi Coast day for you including where to eat, what to do, and what to see for an unforgettable adventure. This is the type of day to splurge on.

You’ll start your day with a quick, simple breakfast at your hotel before heading down to the marina to get on your private boat to explore the coast. Your captain will advise you on the best private, boat-access only beaches to anchor and swim around in. We recommend water toys like seabobs so you can make your way to shore quickly; plus, they are so incredibly fun. At the very least, we recommend having a few water noodles to use as floaties and to help you swim around. Make a stop at one of these private coves and enjoy a bit of swimming and playing.

Lunch and Shopping

Once you’re ready for lunch, take the boat just above Nerano to a lunch place called Conca del Sogno (make reservations!). The restaurant will send their small boat to come pick you up and take you to the restaurant’s dock. Enjoy a super fun lunch vibe with delicious, fresh food. Also enjoy some wine.

Conca del Sogno

After your long lunch, get back on board your boat and head up to Positano. Here you can explore the town and local shops. Also stop for gelato at The Ice Cream Shop of Buca di Bacco to cool off. You’ll need it with all of the stairs!

Positano

When you’re all shopped-out, get back on the boat and go south along the coastline again, maybe stopping at another private beach to swim. Take the 30-to-40-minute boat ride back to Capri, head to your hotel, and freshen up for dinner. Pro tip: Save time for a long shower; the sea is incredibly salty!

Evening Plans

For dinner, if you’d like an extravagant night that you’ll remember forever, go to L’Olivo. It’s the only Michelin-starred restaurant on the island and it is truly an unforgettable dining experience. They actually start you off with a water menu with a wide selection of still and sparkling water. That’s how you know you’re in for a treat of a night!

End the night with a walk around the little town near the restaurant and head back to your hotel. You’ll go to bed wishing you could relive that day.

Extra Intel:

  • You can get to Capri by flying into Naples and taking the ferry or another private boat to the island.
  • Two amazing hotels to splurge on are JK Place and the Jumeirah Capri Palace.
  • Summer weather on the Amalfi Coast is hot, it can get up to 90 degrees, but it cools down in the evening. If you have a breeze during the day, the temperature will feel more comfortable. Pro tip: Always carry a hand fan!
  • If you speak Italian, great. If not, no worries! Nearly everyone on the island speaks English.
