Finding Success with a Remote Workforce

Remote work without a doubt has been a hot trend for years, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the hand of many companies who were reluctant to offer work-from-home to their employees. After a majority of businesses were required to adapt to a remote work environment for a period of time, many adopted this work model or hybrid version in their post-COVID strategies. While the change seems cut and dry, there are several steps organizations need to take in order to be successful as a remote or hybrid workforce.  

  • Clearly identify roles and individuals whose jobs can be performed remotely without issue. 
  • Analyze whether employees need to work the same hours or if you are able to allow flexible time schedules.  
  • Provide and ensure your organization has the right resources to offer remote work including phone systems, computers and technology, video call capabilities, collaboration tools and more. 
  • Set and manage expectations and develop a plan to keep your workforce level of productivity high. 
  • Ensure managers and leadership are equipped with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage a remote or hybrid team. 
  • Encourage routines, batch scheduling, controlled environment and spaces to work that are conducive to focusing. 
  • Find creative ways to include your remote or virtual workforce in culture-building activities. 

As the business world continues to navigate changes of the nature of our work environments, companies who put a plan in place for in-office work, remote work, or a hybrid structure will thrive.
