Just think about it - but not too much

Just think about it - but not too much

Everything is Thought

Our entire existence is based on Thought.

Just think about it.

Yet keep it simple.

Your reality is a series of thoughts that your brain is producing. When you look at something, it is through this faster-than-lightning and mostly unconscious process of thinking that we are able to identify objects and make sense of situations at any given moment.

“We think we are experiencing reality but what we are really experiencing is our thinking.” Michael Neill

The longer we live, the more experiences we have, and the more thoughts related to memories have an opportunity to present themselves. At any second of your life.

Now that’s already a lot of thinking. Right?

If we only allowed this immeasurable number of thoughts to come and go - pass by and flow - we would find harmony and peace. This is my unscientific and not-at-all proven analysis. Based on my own experience and observation, both within myself and with my clients or anyone around me.

Ocean Flow

Just think about it.

Simply imagine never getting stuck in the past. Never ruminating about any conversation or situation that took place yesterday or decades ago. You’d just keep moving. You’d just let these thoughts pass through, pass you by.

Or simply imagine flowing through your day never letting your thoughts stick to a possible future scenario, something that could happen.

No worry.

No fear.

Only

Flow

You might object and say the above image is not achievable. We all get stuck in the past and we all worry about the future at times. You’re right. We all do. However not everything is considered “overthinking”, which indicates that the number of thoughts around some theme cause stress or other not so positive symptoms. The difference is twofold.

Time - How long do you keep thinking of something specific and how fast are you able to let go?

Importance - The size of an issue is directly related to the number of thoughts you have around that issue. Are you allowing a massive amount of thought to be directed at a specific issue or can you shave off some layers of thought and create more equality among topics in your mind?

If you observe your own line of thought - your own flow - what are you spending your time thinking about and which subjects are getting the most attention?

Are you an overthinker?

It is not a judgment. It is what it is.

As it is with so many other things in life (with everything in life perhaps) awareness is what starts a process for change. A single observation can be enough to start the invisible engine, which accelerates your forward movement in life. Once you accelerate, you’ll be able to move faster. When you move faster, your focus is sharp and you just might miss the “usual” obstacles and find a better flow.

Imagine that.

Just think about it - but not too much.
