It's Time to Reclaim Your Life

It's Time to Reclaim Your Life

Busy-ness is an epidemic that’s leaving us exhausted and frustrated. And you’d be fooling yourself if you think it’s going to get better anytime soon. If anything, as technology continues to improve access to anything, anytime, anywhere …. it’s going to get a whole lot worse. If you want things to change, you have to grab the steering wheel and take back control of your life. To reclaim your life and begin writing your own story.

Have you ever wondered if there was more to life ? You never have a spare moment for yourself. Yet at the same time, you feel guilty about the trade offs you’re making. When you’re working late to meet a deadline, you feel guilty about missing family time. When you prioritise time with family, you stress about falling behind and how it’ll affect your performance. And in between all this, you’re squeezing in fragments of time for that long overdue coffee with friends, while making a mental note to return mum’s call …and oh no, did I remember to feed the cat this morning ? The list is endless.

It’s no surprise that 4 in 10 Australians experience a lot of stress in their lives according to Lifeline’s Annual Stress Poll. And we’re searching for answers. The growing popularity of meditation and mindfulness classes points to our desire to unplug. To quieten the noise. Equally, our increasing focus on self awareness and personal development shows that we are looking for ways to reclaim control of our lives. To get it back into balance ….. whatever that definition of ‘balance’ is for each of us.

Why shouldn’t we want … correction, expect more for our lives ?

We have after all, only one shot at this. So we’d better make the most of it.

Imagine your life where all the wonderful, diverse pieces click seamlessly together and life just flows. Just that perfect pitch balance of work, play, family and ‘me’ time. No more guilt as you take ownership of your choices and make them with clear intentions and peace of mind.

A life in flow is more focused. You’re clear about your priorities and what matters most to you. That clarity de-clutters your life and focuses you. You’re not being pulled in every single direction. Instead you are setting the direction for your life. And decisions on how to spend your time and energy are congruent with what is important and meaningful to you. You have a clear sense of self which keeps you centred and grounded.

Ultimately, getting more from life is about living a richer, fuller life on your own terms. It’s about your personal definition of a happy, meaningful and fulfilled life. One that is authentic to the real you. And allowing that clarity to drive your life decisions and the confidence to go for it.

So, it’s time to reclaim your life. Give yourself permission to hit the ‘pause’ button to regain your bearings. And begin writing your next chapter.

Totally agree with your summary of the issues Carol. I'm convinced that balance is a myth. Passionate and driven people are always going to be out of balance. I prefer to hrlp people find work-life INTEGRATION. Keep up the great work highlighting these issues and helping busy people to take back control.
