Invisible Summer
Hello there!
As we transition from the chill of winter into the blossoming promise of spring, I want to share with you a soul-stirring quote from the remarkable Albert Camus:
âIn the depth of winter, I finally learned that there lay within in me an invisible summer.â
I shared this quote during the Go, Grow & Glow panel I was on last week as my parting remark. I didnât have time to explain why this quote is so important to me, so here it is!
Albert Camus, the French philosopher, author, and Nobel laureate, was a champion of existentialism. His wise words encourage us to seek our own purpose and meaning in life, especially during times of turmoil and uncertainty.
Camus wrote this insightful statement after experiencing the devastation of World War II, which left Europe in chaos and despair. The quote is a testament to the inner strength and resilience we can discover within ourselves to triumph over adversity. This âinvisible summerâ symbolizes the warmth and hope that each of us can cultivate, even when the world around us seems cold and dark.
Now, letâs celebrate our achievements! Did you know that women-owned businesses have been growing by leaps and bounds? In 2021 alone, there were approximately 13 million women-owned businesses in the US, generating close to $2 trillion in revenue. Whatâs even more astounding is that this incredible growth occurred during a global pandemic! My dear friends, that is the essence of the invisible summer.Â
As women entrepreneurs, weâve faced countless challenges and obstacles. Weâve broken through barriers and balanced work, life, and everything in between. It is in these moments that we must remember our own invisible summerâour inner fire that has the power to dispel even the coldest, most daunting difficulties.
To further inspire you, letâs reflect on another profound quote from Camus: âYou cannot create experience. You must undergo it.â This wisdom reminds us that our journey, filled with peaks and valleys, is what shapes our character and fuels our growth. Embrace every challenge, learn from each experience, and emerge stronger than ever before!
In essence, our invisible summer is a celebration of the resilience, resourcefulness, and sheer determination that we, as women entrepreneurs, possess. Let us raise a toast to the spirit of female entrepreneurship! ð¥ May our inner summers shine brighter with each challenge we face.
Concluding paragraph:
Hereâs to a season of growth, warmth, and success!Â
With love and light,
P.S. If you have a favorite quote that keeps your entrepreneurial fire burning, please share it with our sisterhood. Letâs continue to uplift and inspire one another!Â

1yThis a very important concept for mental health (both invisible or invincible summer work in this context ð ). I recently read 'The Man's Search for Meaning' by Viktor Frankl, sharing his experiences in Auschwitz from the perspective of a psychotherapist and simply as a survivor of a Nazi camp. The concept resonates with Camu's 'summer' so well. By finding hope through the darkest times we find resources to keep on going (and even to help others more!). Sometimes it literally saves people's lives (being a Ukrainian, I've experienced so many of these symptoms myself in the last year). So let's keep on going. That can be the meaning of life already. To just keep going, no matter what.
