Indian National Mathematics Day 2017

I wish everyone an elated mathematics day which is celebrated all over India on the birth anniversary of great mathematics genius Srinivasan Ramanujan, FRS.

The man with no formal education but still was able to acquire a direct degree from one of the most revered institution of the world Trinity College, University of Cambridge under the tutelage of Sir G. H. Hardy, FRS and Littlewood, FRS.

His contribution in the areas of highly composite number, partition, value of Pi, Ramanujan-Hardy number (1729) etc. gave mathematics a new dimension.

He failed in Primes but he never looked back and carried on his indefatigable spirit of working in the advancement of Mathematics.

When he arrived at Trinity College, Cambridge he got astonished by seeing it but Littlewood said, "Don't get intimidated, the knowledge comes from the humblest of origins".

And when Sir G. H. Hardy was defending his election as FRS he said on his behalf "We are merely explorer of infinity in a pursuit of absolute excellence".

I pay homage with utmost reverence to this genius and a great soul.
