How Recognition Contributes To A Positive Work Culture At Hilton Grand Vacations

We all want to feel valued and appreciated for the work we do. Hilton Grand Vacations believes that a little recognition can go a long way in motivating Team Members and building a positive work culture .

“Our company is built with people in mind. By placing people first, we make Team Members feel welcome and show that they belong,” said Carlo S., the general manager of The Boulevard, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Las Vegas. “I can’t do what I do without the endless work of my team. So what better way to show the appreciation they deserve than by recognizing them?”

Great Place To Work® — the global authority on workplace culture and organization behind the Great Place To Work® Certification™ — has found that successful companies integrate recognition into their culture. “There’s something invigorating about a workplace where recognition is more than just an end-of-the-year event. With over 700,000 survey respondents echoing this sentiment, it’s hard to argue against the data,” wrote Claire Hastwell of Great Place To Work .

As Claire emphasized, recognition is most impactful when it’s built into the core of a company’s culture, not just an annual formality. Hilton Grand Vacations integrates recognition into the workplace through SPARK Recognition, a Team Member-led platform.

How SPARK works is that Team Members can choose a colleague to recognize, share the reason for the recognition and select which of Hilton Grand Vacations’ values the recognition aligns with — whether it’s hospitality , integrity, leadership, teamwork or ownership.

With SPARK, Team Members have an easy one-stop shop where they can add a spark to someone's day, whether to celebrate a friend’s work anniversary, thank a colleague for help on a challenging project or highlight a Team Member who went above and beyond to take care of a Guest.

For Kandace W., a quality assurance manager, recognition is one of the ways she shares positivity with her team. “I love giving recognition through SPARK for Club Counselors who achieve 100% for their quality compliance, a key metric of our success,” she said. “It’s their hard work and dedication that makes the department awesome.”

The beauty of SPARK Recognition is that it invites all Team Members to spark a chain reaction of greatness and create a culture where appreciation catches fire. “When I want to let our colleagues know a fellow Team Member excelled, I use the SPARK Recognition platform. SPARK allows others to see the recognition and boost it for broader recognition,” said Carlo.

Recognition is just one reason why we’ve earned a Great Place To Work® Certification™ based on survey data from Team Members. Our Team Members value Hilton Grand Vacations’ positive culture focused on growth , diversity and belonging — along with best-in-class benefits like travel perks , educational benefits , employee support and parental leave .
