Tour Name: Project # 01 from Afar Triangle to Ilemi Triangle

Tour Highlight: The Purpose of this tour is to introduce and give a highlight for all Humans how and where we evolved into conscious being and step by step transited to Civilization. Our aim is to show Ethiopian Pale-anthropological sites which have been the focus of human evolutionary studies and discoveries.

The rich and diverse fossil records in the Afar and Lower Omo Valleys dating from about 6 Million years to the latest 160,000 years ago attest to the this fact .

11 out of 13 human ancestral species that have so far been discovered in the world are found in Ethiopia that confirms Ethiopia as the origin of humans.

More over civilization also started in this part of the world following the reconstruction of Paleo- environmental changes around Melka Kunture – Konso and Ilemi Triangle in lower Omo valley regions.

Our Travel plan is designed to provide summarized study tour of human evolution related with the Great Rift Valley and highlight the above two important notions about human origin and the beginning of civilization through Stone Tools.

Tentative Travel Plan

June 09: Drive /Fly to Semera /Logia .Overnight at Local Hotel (Nazareth Hotel) in Logia .The group will introduce each other during the welcoming Dinner and Briefing of the program and discussion about the flexibility of the plan.

June 10: Visit Hadar/ Ad’are area where Australopethicus Afarnesis have been discovered in various parts of the Afar Depression on the lower Awash Village and this includes the Iconic fossils of Lucy/Dinkines and the child Skeleton of Selam dated to 3.2 and 3.3 million years respectively. Overnight at Nazereth Hotel in Logia

June 11: Early morning drive to Allalobad Geothermal complex. Then drive to Erta Ale through Afdera salt Lake. Overnight Camping at the Summit of Erta Ale Caldera looking at the molten rock Lava Lake activity.

June 12: Early morning drive to Ahmed Ela / Dallol area for a visit of the geothermal complex of Salt and Volcanoes. Overnight camping at Ahmed Ela .

June 13: Early morning visit of Dallol Salt bed and other geothermal pools and drive to Afdera. Camping at Afdera Salt Lake Shore.

June 14: Drive to Awash through the rift valley area looking at many Geotourism facts.

Overnight at Awash Genet Hotel

June 15: Drive to Melka Kunture and overnight camping in the compound.

June 16: Drive to one of the central Rift Valley lakes and overnight camping.

June 17: Drive to Sodo / Arba Minch . Overnight Hotel

June 18: Visit Dorze village and boat on Lake Chamo. Drive to Konso . Overnight at Konso Hotel/ camping

June 19: Drive to Turmi /Karo village and visit the culture of Omo Valley Tribes. Overnight camping in the village.

June 20: Drive to Omorate /Ilemi Triangle /Kibish area to see the final destiny of Human Civilization and evolution.

June 21: Drive to Jinka through the other Omo tribes. Anybody wants to fly Addis from Jinka it is possible

June 22: Drive to Sodo / Ajora Falls and Camping.

June 23: Finally drive to Addis through Tiya and Adadi Mariam areas where end of the expedition!

The prices include the following services:

1/ Accommodation on camping for 9 days throughout the trip on double basis.

2/ Meals for camping only with water. 8 days accommodation and meals with camping will be covered by the cost given .

3/ Transportation with Land Cruisers for Erta Ale and Dallol and with Bus for the rest of the route as per the plan.

4/ Guide service throughout the trip.

5/ Cook, camping materials and camping food for 9 camping days in Afar and southern part including Melka Kunture.

6/ Entrance fees , local guides , Police men and scouts throughout the trip.

The cost does not include:

1/ Accommodation and meals in towns like Logia, Awash, Arbaminch, Konso and Jinka. 6 days accommodation and meals in towns will be covered by the travellers.

2/ Expenses of personal nature.
