Employee Engagement Surveys: Combatting the Great and Silent Resignation Pandemic
A quiet quitter can be hard to identify.

Employee Engagement Surveys: Combatting the Great and Silent Resignation Pandemic

We’re heavily involved in the second month of 2023, but for many, our minds are still repairing from the rollercoaster of 2022. For the companies that survived the year, we’re giving you a BIG pat on the back - take this moment to celebrate this achievement.

Moving on… certain words in this article may give you haunting flashbacks to the turbulent times you experienced as a leader in the past 12 months; the first being ‘quiet quitting’.

The buzzwords took the workplace by storm in 2020, putting HR Departments and Management teams into a state of panic, but what does it mean and how can you identify a quiet quitter?

Collins Dictionary definition

‘Quiet quitting’

Noun

1. The practice of doing no more work than one is contractually obliged to do, especially in order to spend more time on personal activities

2. The practice of doing little or no work while being present at one’s place of employment

As we hover over a recession and risk plunging deeply into it, many company leaders will be tackling the redundancy procedure head on in the coming months, however the threat of the ‘R’ word will not encourage your employees to become fully engaged.

There's no way of knowing exactly what your employees think/feel.

Unfortunately, telepathy isn’t a skill that you acquire when you become a Manager, so knowing exactly how your employees feel towards their jobs and your company is quite the mystery. However, the implementation of regular (be it annual, bi-annually or quarterly) Employee Engagement Surveys proves to provide a strong insight into who is an ambassador and who has one foot out of the door (quietly quitting).

By compiling thought provoking questions that deep dive into all aspects of the company; such as the leadership team, their job, their team/peers, the Company vision and the ‘wriggle room’ (work/life balance), you can uncover a plethora of data to determine how truly engaged each employee is.

On Wednesday 15th March from 11:00 - 12:00, Jayne Sanderson Brown will host an insightful webinar on what your Employee Engagement Survey results mean for your business and how to utilise them to create a winning People Strategy that will combat the Silent Resignation era.
