Embrace Brilliance: How Emotional Intelligence and Creativity Can Transform Your Life

In this article, I want to share the transformative power of emotional intelligence and the importance of embracing creativity in our lives.

Let me be vulnerable with you.

Putting a creative effort out into the world can be daunting.

We open ourselves up to critique, and we also get to be socially accountable. And, therein lies the magic on both counts.

Create and Relate

During my time out of work, enrolled to CTI (ongoing) and conceived a project: EQ Brilliance ; a Coaching service (initially focusing on but not limited to Salespeople); offering Emotional Intelligence to build robust, empowered, growth mindsets. A service to help you understand yourself and provide deeper personal clarity. Our mind(set)'s are with us for life: we need an ally - not an opponent.

The Brilliance of EQ

Emotional intelligence is crucial in the professional world, and particularly in the commercial sphere where we operate in pressured environments that provoke reactivity. Studies have consistently demonstrated the positive impact of emotional intelligence on commercial performance. Research conducted by the Harvard Business Review revealed that sales professionals who actively develop their emotional intelligence skills experienced an average sales performance increase of 78%.

If you can improve your self-awareness, social awareness, and your self-management, the world around you very quickly starts behave very differently. By developing emotional intelligence, individuals can overcome fear of failure and judgment, leading to personal growth, greater opportunity, and improved performance.

Perspective

My experience of receiving coaching myself has made me certain that *Everyone*, needs a coach. Put differently, everyone needs a mirror. In an age where AI is transforming industries, emotional intelligence remains the vital human advantage. Proper human connection is a challenged art form that must be defended. Sadly, we aren't taught this stuff and many individuals and leaders are operating from a place of unconscious reactivity, reacting to the world from their [well intentioned] survival patterns, rather than from the way the world actually is. Phenomena such as avoidance permeate most workplaces and relationships and foster resentment and bitterness. Avoidance is an interesting one because it is essentially the act of doing nothing. Quite remarkable, then, 'nothing' can be such a destructive force. This kind of conduct serves no one and keeps us stuck in the status quo with inhibited progress.

~ You do not see things the way they are, you see things the way you are ~

Fear of Failure

Many of my coachees have recently expressed a common fear: the fear of failure and judgment. However, I invite you to consider a different perspective on 'failure.' When we build something creatively and test it in the world, akin to scientists, it is already a success. Scientists focus on testing their ideas and embracing inquiry, not fixating on the possibility of failure. Similarly, artists do not concern themselves with art 'failing'; they see art as an expression. Let's embrace the concept of creating without aligning it with the notion of failure.

Creativity

Every human mind (life!) is abundant with artistic and creative potential (whatever that means to YOU!) like a seed that yearns for nurture. When you are close to this you know because you feel aligned and light - energised. And when you're not, you feel the friction of dissonance instead of the buzz of internal resonance.

Pause for a moment. Does this sound familiar? take 30 seconds out of your day to feel into it.

When do you feel most aligned? What triggers you like crazy?

I invite you not to let fear of failure and judgement hold you back. God loves a trier. More than just a nice idea - I offer that we actually have a responsibility to do this. This is how we change the world: to bring forward your creativity. That is personal destiny. At the end of life looking back, we will thank ourselves.

My kind of activism starts within.

'I'm just not a creative type'

Good news! This is deeply inaccurate. Neither my worldview nor my coaching philosophy includes a human that is not inherently creative. We are indeed taught that creativity is usually expressed through the arts, however this is just one kind.

My kind of creativity - by way of example example - is through the expression of and discussion of powerful ideas and concepts. I love ideas, and I love discerning patterns between different schools of thought and philosophy.

Inquiry: What energises you the most?

My Accountability List:

  1. Level up and formalise Coaching skills; deeper investment of time, passion and funds. Bring life changing ideas, presence and reflection to others
  2. Make more noise - Share ideas and provoke thought. Disrupt the limiting patterns governing us and evoke the evolution of mind that we all intuitively know we need. Yes. Feel into it. You know its in there
  3. Support. Coaching is about being in service of others. I am here for you.

How you can help me:

  1. Give my page a follow. Like & share. Help me reach people. Do you know someone who could use some support? Why not make an intro. As it stands I am offering pro-bono to hone my craft, and this won't be the case forever. The power of talking is dynamite, and sometimes even saves lives.
  2. I am in the market for my next full-time role in tech/Martech; do keep me in mind if you know of anything relevant. My sales & leadership experience in the Martech industry is considerable and comes served with a lot of passion, rigour & drive. Gratitude.

A call to evoke transformation

If you made it this far, thank you. In concluding this, invite you to unleash your creativity and nurture your emotional intelligence. It starts with each one of us, making a commitment to personal growth and embracing the magic within us. Let's be catalysts of change in our own lives and the world around us. I encourage you to find and follow your own path of creativity, seek the support of coaches and mentors, and be open to transformation. Together, we can create a ripple effect of empowered individuals who are not afraid to express themselves and make a positive impact.

A departing gift

Lastly, a related topic and something I've been through myself. During these turbulent disempowering economics, I am offering 2X free coaching sessions to anyone (in any role) that has been laid off and could use a chat. We can meet where you are in the moment, and help you extract all personal growth from this test life has presented. Who do you - we(!) - need to be, right now, to make this the best thing that ever happened?
