Dore elected President-elect of the Register of Professional Archaeologists

Dr. Christopher D. Dore, has been elected to the position of President-elect of the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA). He will serve in this position for two years beginning in January 2016 and then assume the role of President for a two-year term in January 2018. RPA is the standards-setting and credentialing organization for professional archaeologists. The RPA Standards of Research Performance and Code of Conduct are followed by archaeologists around the world.

In his ballot statement, Dr. Dore noted that RPA is an increasingly important organization within the structure of American and global archaeology. “As archaeology becomes more complex as a discipline, more litigious in the realm of regulatory compliance, and more politically scrutinized as a science, the need for and relevance of RPA and its standards become more important.”

Dr. Dore has devoted much of his career to supporting colleagues and the discipline through professional service. He has served as President of the American Cultural Resources Association, Treasurer of the Society for American Archaeology, and currently edits the journal Advances in Archaeological Practice. "Professional service is an important part of being an anthropologist today,” Dr. Dore stated, “and I look forward to continuing work to make our discipline stronger, more relevant, and make professional practice easier for the next generation of archaeologists.”

Dr. Dore is a consultant with Heritage Business International, L3C and an Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at the University of Arizona.
