Do you choose courage or comfort?

Do you choose courage or comfort?

Did you know that there are only 100 days left in 2019?! 100!! Where on earth did the year go?!

Actually I guess the more important question to ask is, how do you choose to spend your last 100 days of 2019?

Are you going to choose courage or are you going to choose comfort?

Brene Brown has this amazing quote:

"We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can't have both. Not at the same time."

This quote serendipitously came into my life when I needed it most. I'd taken the step to resign from a job that left me feeling unfulfilled, broken and anxious. The only thing is, I didn’t have another job (salary!) to go to.

😮 â€œYou’re so brave to quit without having anything lined up!”

😮 â€œThat’s so courageous of you to leave your job when you don’t know what you’re going to do next!”

😮 "You're so fearless, I could never just leave my job, no matter how miserable I was!"

The real truth was that I didn’t feel brave or courageous at all. That step I took to leave my job without having another one waiting in the wings? Well... it just felt necessary. Necessary for my peace of mind.

But life is funny and it turned out my opportunity to choose courage was just around the corner.

You see, I didn't know who I was outside of my job. Without the job title, the perceived status or salary. My self-worth was inextricably wrapped up in my job!

So what did choosing courage look like for me?

It looked like choosing NOTto jump back into the comfort of the corporate ladder and instead take the time to find out what it is that truly brings me joy. What is it that lights me up? What am I actually really good at? What am I doing when I feel in flow? What do I want my life to look like in 5, 10, 15 years? What kind of person do I need to become to get there?

So often you can find yourself in a position where you’re successful but not fulfilled, or you feel as if your life is at a standstill, or you’re so overcome with self-doubt and fears that you don’t go after that thing that you KNOW will bring you joy!

If you find yourself in this position here’s what I want you to know.

In life we’re constantly faced with choices. When it comes down to choosing what your life is going to look like, you can go forward courageously with belief that you can get it done, that you can create a life that you want to live, even if you don’t yet know how.

Or... you can choose to stay in your comfort zone, play it safe and wonder why things aren’t changing, why you're living the same year over and over again and your life isn’t turning out the way you want it to.

With only 100 days left in 2019, how do you want to wrap up your year? Are you ready to take the leap, choose courage and set yourself up for a more fulfilled 2020? Or would you rather settle, and choose comfort?

Let me know!
