Do as I say, not as I do
Just like the cobblerâs son often goes barefoot, we confess to not always following our expertise in marketing our own business. And we want to change that.
In theory, we all know how to do things right. We rush to advise others how to build those muscles and point to the things that are holding them back in achieving the weight goals, the business goals, the life goals.Â
It doesnât mean we do things right ourselves. When life consumes us in its turbulent stream we tend to lose the sense of self-awareness and wonder why things that we so desire still seem unachievable.Â
Marketers are great at telling others what they need to do.
Your value proposition is not clear, your USPs are not coming through in the messaging, your brand requires some design work etc. Diagnosing someone elseâs pathology is inherently easier than treating yourself.Â
If you have ever been in (psycho) therapy you would know how easy it is to pinpoint what other people are doing wrong but it is much harder to face your own shadow.Â

"As an agency, we absolutely know what our clients need to do to win that market. However, we are also a business that requires [b2b] marketing and someone to hold that mirror. Yes, we reflect on our outreach attempts and on our pitches to inbound leads. We jot down our lessons learnt and we install data trackers all over the place to collect all possible and legally permitted data points to support our decision making.
However, the best teachers are our clients who challenge and push and demand more.
Accepting that a client is always right is hard, just as hard as accepting that our reality is simply the reflection of our thoughts and deeds."
Today we are inviting you to tell us what we need to do to get it right.
Hold that mirror! Our question for today is about the newsletter that you are reading. We want to know - even if the reality of your responses hits hard - whether you have been enjoying it and finding it useful. We want to be better and bring you value, not something that we think you need but something that you - straightforwardly - tell us you need. It will take you just 3-5 mins.

2moSuch a relatable point! Itâs so easy to spot challenges in othersâ businesses, but when it comes to facing our own, it can be quite the reality check. Honest self-assessment is key for real growth, and I love that your newsletter is focusing on this. Itâs a great reminder that the same critical thinking we apply to our clients should also be applied to our own strategies. Excited to contribute and hear the insights from others!Â
