(TRADE NEWSWIRE): The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has extended its warm of relief to Internally Displaced People that fell the victim of the Lagos collapsed building who are accommodated at the Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties / Emergency Management Agency, Igando Emergency/ Relief/ Resettlement Camp, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.

NIMASA donated food items and relief materials to victims of the Lagos collapse building, who were rescued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Tuesday in Lagos.

The Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, who was represented by the Queen of Relationship, Queen Lami Tumaka, a World-Renowned First-rate Strategic Communications Professional and Director, Special Duties (External Relations & Technical Cooperation) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), said that the donation was done in line with the Federal Governments’ call at a time on its Agencies to assist in the time of disaster so as to bring succour to the affected Nigerians.

According to Queen Tumaka, NIMASA, being a Socially Responsible Organisation, had it in plan to extend such kind gesture to 20 states across the country, as they had done in the past, adding that they were kicking off from Lagos State being, as the it remains the flagship amongst states in Nigeria.

(Building collapse in Ita Faji, Lagos): On Wednesday March 13, 2019, a building collapsed at Ita Faji, Lagos Island, Nigeria at exactly 9.45am in the morning, killing 20 persons, including school children, while more than 40 people sustained injuries of various degrees. The building was marked for demolition by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LSBCA).

(Building collapse in Kakawa Street, Lagos): On Monday March 25, 2019, a three story building marked for demolition collapsed at 50, Kakawa Street, Lagos Island, Nigeria, collapsed at exactly 1.10 pm in the afternoon, but occupants of the building earlier vacated the building for safety on Saturday March 23, 2019. The building was marked for demolition by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LSBCA).

(Building collapse in Oke Arin, Lagos): On Monday March 18, 2019, another building collapsed at around 3:45pm afternoon on 57, Egerton Square, Oke Arin, Lagos, Nigeria, as a result of quack workers tasked to bring down houses that were marked for demolition by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LSBCA).

The General Manager, The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA); Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, disclosed that the displaced people were accommodated for three months and maximum of six months, adding that habitants of the building collapse that took place in Ita Faji and Kakawa, who were presently at the camp were being taken good care of.

He said Lagos state took it as its responsibility, a he did not want the victims to live in the open and be exposed to further disaster, which necessitated the Agency to enumerate them and got them accommodated temporarily for rehabilitation so as to be back to their normal life.
