A Friendly Reminder: Experiencing Creative Block is Normal

There will be times when you feel your creativity is not up to the mark, when drawing seems impossible, and when you feel simply stuck. This is perfectly normal. Everyone goes through these phases as part of the creative journey.

Remind yourself that facing such a block doesn't mean the end of creativity. It doesn't make you less of an artist, and it certainly isn't a permanent state. Quite often, this phase is followed by a substantial breakthrough.

On some days, you'll find your inner genius soaring high, while on others, you might feel weighed down by self-doubt, staring into what feels like a creative void, and even feeling like an imposter. These ups and downs are all part of the creativity cycle, and it's perfectly healthy.

Jamie Lidell, a renowned musician, once said, "Some days the genius will be in you, and you will sail. Other days the lead will line the slippers, and you'll be staring into the void of your so-called creative mind, feeling like a fraud. It's all part of the big ole cycle of creativity, and it's a healthy cycle at that."

When I reflect on some of my most cherished pieces of work, I recall periods of intense struggle and unease. There were moments where I felt like banging my head against the wall, felt lost, and even contemplated quitting before I experienced any breakthrough.

Breaking Through the Creative Block

It's crucial to remember that these blocks are integral to the creative process. It requires a struggle to create something innovative and unique.

Don't let the creative block overpower you. Try implementing some of these suggestions, stay resilient, and continue your creative pursuit with determination.
