A CONFESSION OF A GUN-TOTING DEPLORABLE REDNECK
A CONFESSION OF A GUN-TOTING DEPLORABLE REDNECK
R. A. Schultz
Having carried a concealed firearm for many years as a police detective, and open-carried many times in the military, and now carry concealed again as a Deplorable white cracker retiree, I have something to confess.
Some years ago, as a part of my duties as an instructor / course writer for a popular Northeastern Florida college, I attended a seminar in Central Florida sponsored by a national police specialty organization I choose not to name. The subject matter of the seminar was fundamental school security, and the presentation featured John Giduck, author of âTERROR AT BESLAN,â wherein Giduck examined in excruciatingly graphic detail the terrorist assault on the middle school in the town of Beslan, Russia, perpetrated by a band of Chechen Islamic terrorists.
Giduckâs book is ominously subtitled âA Russian Tragedy with Lessons for Americaâs Schools.â The massacre took place on September 1, 2004. The book was published in 2005, the year I attended the seminar. It is obvious that few, if any, of the lessons Giduck presented have been learned, much less acted upon.
Since I attended that seminar, I have been a vocal proponent of significantly increasing the physical security of American schools, churches, and public buildings thereby hardening extremely soft targets against terrorists as well as the garden variety of paranoid schizophrenic school, church, and public building shooters.
My confession is, that coming away from that seminar, I have experienced a visceral aversion to obeying those stupid âGun-Free Zoneâ signs wherever Iâve encountered them, especially SCHOOLS! Iâm a good guy with a gun. If I need it when I donât have it because I obeyed the signage placed by some lily-livered leftist control freak Iâm screwed along with everyone else within range of the bad guy. If I donât need it, itâs concealed. Whoâs gonna know?
