  • Return air travel–payment of a single return, economy class airfare to and from Australia, via the most direct route
  • Establishment allowance–a once only payment as a contribution towards accommodation expenses, text books, study materials
  • Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) – a fortnightly contribution to basic living expenses paid at a rate determined by the department.
  • Introductory Academic Program (IAP)–a compulsory program prior to the commencement of formal academic studies covering information on living and studying in Australia
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award (for award holder only)–provided to cover the scholar's basic medical costs (with the exception of pre-existing conditions)
  • Pre-course English (PCE) fees–if deemed necessary PCE may be available for students for in-country and/or in-Australia training
  • Supplementary academic support may be available to ensure a scholar's academic success or enhance their academic experience
  • Fieldwork (for research awards and Masters by coursework which have a research component where fieldwork is compulsory) may be available for eligible research students for one return economy class airfare via the most direct route to their country of citizenship or within Australia.
  •  Award Condition

A contract stating that the applicant will abide by the scholarship's terms must be signed with the Commonwealth of Australia before they may accept an Australia Awards Scholarship. After receiving their scholarship, recipients must spend at least two years outside of Australia. If this isn't done, the scholar will be responsible for paying back the full amount of their scholarship debt.

2. Destination Australia Program Scholarship

The Australian government pays eligible tertiary education providers through the Destination Australia Program (DAP), which enables them to award scholarships to both domestic and foreign students who wish to study in regional Australia. Students pursuing studies from a Certificate IV to a PhD for up to four years at rural campus locations throughout Australia are eligible for one of the up to $15,000 per student, per year, Destination Australia grants.

 

This scholarship is available for local and international students. The Destination Australia Program commitments are:

●    Encourages initiatives that contribute to growth and sustainability in order to support Australian tertiary education providers in regional and remote areas.

●    Provides Australian and international students with the chance to pursue high-quality education, training, and research while also getting a taste of living in Australia's rural and regional areas

●    Ensures that regions benefit from the social, cultural, and economic advantages that come from having international students

●    In accordance with the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure, the Destination Australia Program defines a regional location as any locality outside of Australia's Big Cities. 

  • Eligibility and Requirements

Direct scholarship applications from students are made to education institutions or providers. For the term of their scholarship, students must satisfy the following requirements to be eligible for a Destination Australia scholarship:

  • Start a new full-time programme with a recognised provider in the academic year 2023. The course must be a level of the Australian
  • Qualifications Framework, ranging from Certificate IV to PhD, and it must last one to four years
  • Live in a regional area before the study and throughout the duration of it (according to the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure).
  •  Eligible for student visa current throughout the scholarship period
  • Acceptance to a full-time study programme offer that is registered on CRICOS.
