Will climbing the corporate ladder in nude tones pay off?

Will climbing the corporate ladder in nude tones pay off?

Well, according to studies by job search website Monster, employers make decisions about interviewees within seven minutes. A staggering 70% say the way the candidate applies makeup, affect their initial impression about them. Yet 90% of my clients (from professional backgrounds) tell me they haven't the foggiest idea how to apply makeup!

In the corporate world, I recommend natural or nude tones of makeup over heavier brighter alternatives. This allows for greater expression of individual personality and easier recognition by others. Ironically, these factors sway whether or not an interview candidate seem competent, trustworthy and likeable.

Despite their talents and capabilities, celebrities and politicians are known to hire stylists to present the most flattering and confident version of themselves. So why is that?

In an ideal world we are rewarded based on our skills, talents and experiences. After all we live in an age of diversity and we should accept people for who they are and not what they look like.

However, in reality, we all know that 'looks' significantly contribute in influencing and impressing in the world of business, politics, media or so on.

Goes without saying personal presentation like dressing and style of makeup along with how well one is groomed play a big role. We all know how first impressions tend to last!
