Clarity Break? What is it and why should I do it?
This last week, I had the chance to spend time with family members and friends in the beautiful country of Mexico. Honestly, I went into the week a little burnt out, overwhelmed with some big business decisions we have to make as a company on the direction of the company, and my involvement in our RizeX Professional Growth Network .
If you're like me, I had the best of intentions to work on goals, my personal and family Vision/Traction Organizer (VT/O) and finding some light at the end of a tunnel. I knew that removing myself from the day to day operations, I could potentially see what was happening in our business.
But what I realized was that it wasn't the business that was the problem, it was me.
Over the last 2.5 years, I didn't realize it but I have fallen into a trap. A trap of self doubt and anxiety. A trap of not facing reality. A trap of good is "good enough". The trap that the world is struggling, so it's okay to also struggle.
My wife noticed my trap and my struggle. She mentioned to me several times that I wasn't myself anymore. Just a robot version of who I actually am.
Honestly, I lost my identity. Even to the point that I convinced myself that I couldn't do the "Entrepreneur" thing anymore and I needed to take on a full time position. I found myself living a life and being a person that I didn't even recognize. I found myself making decisions out of fear, out of anxiousness, out of doubt, out of concern of what is happening in the world. I let the world and those in my world at the time tear me down. I went to Mexico beat up and bruised. And I didn't even realize it.
Maybe you can relate?
As I was sitting at lunch with my wife, brother Rob Harris and his amazing wife Brittany, she said something that opened my eyes. As I was struggling, she said, Maybe the things you have been through have been for a bigger purpose. God knows you and he has placed you in this time, given you these experiences to help you become who you are meant to be.
Those words struck a chord with me. They went deep. I realized then and there that there was a reason for every struggle I experienced. Every discouragement I went through, every failure I felt... That was a tipping point for me because I realized that it was okay... That I was okay with what happened and the reason and purpose for it. Do I fully understand it now? No, but it opened my eyes to a true clarity break. My soul was at peace with the insight. Had I heard it before, yes... But I didn't really hear it until that moment.

That is really when the clarity break started.
What is a clarity break?
A Clarity Break is simply a scheduled time for leaders to step away from their daily tasks and reflect on their business. It's a time to think strategically, analyze metrics, identify trends, and plan for the future. This break is an opportunity to gain clarity on what is working, what isn't, and where to focus next.
In today's fast-paced business environment, it can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day operations and lose sight of the bigger picture. This is where Clarity Breaks come in. They provide an opportunity to step back, gain perspective, and make informed decisions that can drive business growth.
But the benefits of Clarity Breaks go beyond just gaining clarity. They also help reduce stress and prevent burnout. When leaders are constantly in "firefighting" mode, it can lead to exhaustion and decreased productivity. Taking a Clarity Break can help leaders recharge and refocus, leading to better decision-making and overall performance.
And the last two days of my vacation were just that.
Did it remove anxiety, stress, frustration? No, but it helped me learn who I am and the impact I can have on the world. It reminded me that I can live my purpose of "You can have everything you want in this life by helping enough other people get what they want." My legacy.
So the journey begins again... Day 1! Or One Day - the decision is mine, and I'm going to chase after my life again!
Feeling burned out... Take a vacation and regroup. It will be the best thing you can do for yourself and your business.

1yVery well said Ryan! Clarity Breaks are important. And all of us hit those days, moments, whatever of wondering if we are on the right path. But like you and your wife, I too believe everything happens for a reason. If we take the time to reflect on those moments, those reasons are what set us up for success.
