AI or not AI, does it really matter?
We live in a globally connected world, where half of the population can speak more than one language. In this weekâs edition of #EverydAI Iâll highlight the benefits of using Generative Artificial Intelligence tools for my multilingual friends and colleagues out thereâ¦
As a multilingual immigrant myself, learning how to speak a new language has always been fascinating to me! When my family moved from Erevan to Argentina, we only spoke Armenian, so I learned to speak Spanish in kindergarten. Those days, the dictionaries were big books, and I would spend hours flipping through the pages as part of my learning process.
By then, the dictionaries were available in electronic format. Do you remember the CD-ROMs? And then, the Internet came along, and the process of looking words up became much more efficient! Throughout those years, no one asked me if I used a dictionary to create my work.
Today, we have amazing GenAI tools, like ChatGPT, that allow us to access, in a matter of seconds, all the information publicly available in the world⦠our new super mega dictionary is also a tutor, a foreign language teacher and a personal assistant, all in one! And this has created a big controversy about how to figure out whether a document was generated with or without the help of AI⦠Does it really matter?
GPT-4o has helped me to be more efficient and accurate when writing in different languages. My most used prompts are:
- Please spell âXYZâ for me
- Please explain the meaning of âXYZâ
Recommended by LinkedIn
- Please tell me the most grammatically correct way of saying âXYZâ
When you speak multiple languages, you may experience âlost in translationâ moments, when you intend to convey one message, but choose the wrong combination of words, and the audience ends up understanding something different⦠Consulting with GenAI tools can be very helpful in preventing these situations from happening!
Last week, The Wall Street Journal published an article about a tool to catch students âcheatingâ with ChatGPT, that OpenAI has developed but has not released yet:
And this week Grammarly Business , one of the most widely used AI-powered education tools, announced a new Authorship feature to be available in beta this September:

Are we placing our energy in the right place? I see GenAI as a new learning tool, the same way dictionaries and calculators were in the past. Whether a document was created with or without the help of AI should not be as relevant as the quality of the content produced⦠What do you think? #BetterAI for a #BetterWorld VxM AI
