5 Tips To Be A Sales Rock Star!

5 Tips To Be A Sales Rock Star!

Have you ever wanted to walk into the office and everyone applaud you?

Next you'll hear them start to chant your name? Then everyone starts banging their desks as you strut on up to the board and add another sale to your monthly stats. The crowd goes wild...

YOU are a sales rock star!

The customers love you, the sales team love you, management love you and you make it look so easy...

I've met plenty of sales rock stars over the years and whilst they make it look easy they tend to be the hardest working, most determined and focused people you'll ever know. They are the ones who beat target every single month, who earn loyalty from every customer they speak to and they make the most money each and every month.

Most sales people aspire to hit that level, to build that knowledge, experience and confidence that sales rock stars all seem to have. Sales is a tough grind but when done right can be a hugely rewarding career.

After spending years working with, studying and teaching many sales rock stars here are the 5 tips you need to start rocking today...

1) Don't spend time, INVEST time

The elite sales people don't spend time, they don't waste time, they invest time. Time is money and so they must invest it wisely into activities that help generate results. They are the ones who come in and start calling at 07:00 am because they know that's when most directors and business owners start work. If they're travelling to an appointment they'll map out all potential prospects in that area. Every minute of every hour of every day is valuable.

2) Don't sell, SERVE the customer

Sales rock stars aren't stressing about selling, they are to busy being immersed in serving their prospects and customers. The best sales people operate internally like a sales person, always looking to progress and close the sale, however on the outside they are not a sales person but someone focused on providing value and help.

3) Nothing is more important than the BASICS

You might think that the top sales people don't follow the rules or are lone wolves just doing their own thing. It's quite the opposite and one of the keys to success in sales is making sure you stick to the basics. Every sales team I've supported I've always seen the ones topping the sales leader board are the ones who quite simply just follow the basics. Lee Bartlett, author of The No.1 Best Seller goes into great detail about how important the basics are to sales success and how crucial they were to his success.

4) They don't FEAR objections

I love sitting in team meetings where most of the sales team will moan about the challenges they face and the "reasons" they lose sales or can't win prospects. What I love is that the top sales people will sit there and be able to overcome each one with ease and confidence. They don't fear objections because they know there will always be a way around it. Worst case and there isn't, well they probably wouldn't be selling to that person anyway because they would have qualified them out.

5) You only need to do one simple thing....SELL

The best sales people don't want or need to become subject matter experts, they just want to sell. The best sales people I've met haven't known the most about the product or the most about the industry but they've known the most about sales. They understand people, they understand communication and the know how to sell. This is important now more than ever because most customers can access the product and industry knowledge online, they just need someone to help guide them through the process.

There it is, 5 simple tips but simple tips that are crucial to success for the most elite sales people in the world. Invest your time every day wisely, don't try to sell just focus on serving people, stick to the basics, don't fear objections but embrace them and finally you only need to master one thing....SELLING!

There is only one thing that stands between you and success and that's the choices you make today....

Listen to your customers, understand their needs, it's not about you or your product, it's about them. Your product fits - you wouldn't be talking to them otherwise - they'll realise this when they see you understand their requirements. Never assume, seek clarification and while doing so, commitment to proceed. Enjoy the journey.
