5 days Gorilla Tracking bwindi and wildlife tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park, gorilla tracking is done in Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park in south western Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo and further south west with the Mgahinga National Park bordering Congo and Rwanda. The two day gorilla trek package is designed mainly for the adventure travelers going to Bwindi impenetrable National Park, and queen Elizabeth national park gives chance to interact with wildlife in it’s natural state.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe Airport and Transfer to Bwindi National Park by road
  • Day 2: Gorilla tracking Bwindi impenetrable national Park.
  • Day 3: Drive to queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife Safari
  • Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking Kyambura gorge, boat cruise along Kazinga Channel
  • Day 5: Early Morning Game drive and drive back to Kampala.

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda via Entebbe Airport

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport picked by our Gorilla Safaris Uganda representative or driver/guide will welcome then transfer you to Bwindi National park for overniht stay at a hotel or lodge in either Buhoma, Rushaga or the Nkuringo section.

DAY 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have breakfast in the morning then be picked up by the driver guide before 7am and taken to the park headquarters for a briefing moment on ways and procedures taken during the gorilla tracking Moment the safari drive will go to either: Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija or the Nkuringo gorilla sectior for a great view of the misty Bwindi, and this depends on your gorilla permit allocated to you by Uganda wildlife Authority.

Gorilla tracking usually starts at 8:30AM with the help of armed ranger guides and porters for those who wish to be helped with carrying their large cameras and bags. This help however comes at an added fee of $20 US dollars for the entire trek.

The tracking time and exact moment to view the gorillas cannot be guaranteed as all this depends on where the gorillas last fed from the previous evening and how fast or energetic the trackers are.

Viewing and spotting gorillas can take about one hour then have an hour in the forest to take your packed lunch. After the successful trek, return to the park’s headquarters for a gorilla tracking certificate confirming ones participation in the gorilla tracking activities.

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for Wildlife tour.

Wake up at 6.00 am. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival, check-in at the Bush Lodge and enjoy a late lunch, relax at the lodge and later go on an evening game drive. The game drive will take you to the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Kasenyi track in search for the rare tree climbing lions, hyenas, buffaloes, leopard, water buck, bush bucks, Uganda Kob plus many bird species like the ibis, fish eagles and vultures. Retire to the lodge and have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Trekking, boat cruise along Kazinga Channel

After an early breakfast, you head out to the Kyambura Gorge for Chimpanzee trekking, Chimpanzee tracking in the gorge is remarkable as some of the Chimps have been habituated, meaning that these chimpanzees are familiar with human beings and can carry on their day to day activities in the presence of people. Kyambura is the only place in the park where you can see habituated chimpanzees and other types of primates including red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus, baboons and vervet monkeys. This area is also identified for a variety of avian species like numerous falcons, the blue-headed bee-eater and the African Finfoot.

Afternoon we will go for a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel.

This gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray at a mere foot away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others.

Day 5: Drive to Kampala via Ishasha & departure.

It is advisable that you plan to depart from the lodge/camp at latest 6:30 am today for the game drive along the Kasenyi plain area in northern Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the best time for opportunities of viewing the cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda kobs. We drive at very slow speeds in search of lions, elephants, solitary buffaloes.

After covering as many tracks as possible, we shall end the game drive and start on the journey back to Entebbe / Kampala.
