10 Reasons why LESS is BETTER!

In the above picture, it depicts a usual day at my residence. While it's easier said than done, I am slowly moving towards a more productive epoch of my life, where I get to have my life lived in a better & productive way.

Often it is heard that one must work 18-20 hours a day to make your productivity useful in any way. It is true in many ways. Elon Musk advises this amongst many of the Tier 1 CEO's & Influencers. They sleep by 9, wake up by 3. Eat clean & work out everyday, to have a lean & mean everyday routine.

But be advised! It's counter productive, as a host of inclining & surrounding circumstances are not balanced out for everyone to be like this.

Metrics such as life style, economic environment, up bringing, etc. play pivotal role for affording or living such exemplary lifestyles, meaning, working your way to death!

It's counter productive. And let me state the 10 Reasons why LESS is BETTER.

  1. Time is a factor. Inadequate sleep [anything lesser than 5 hours] leads to declination of productivity.
  2. I sincerely do not understand why one must start work at 8 am and work till mid night, only to continue the same routine everyday. This leads to massive accumulation of stress hormones which vividly shows it's symptoms. Remember, the people who you are working for are not worth it.
  3. All work and no play, makes one a very dumb person. Historically speaking, the greatest warriors have often been the greatest of thinkers & philosophers.
  4. Productive work ought to be completed within 1-2 hours. Concentrative work must go for 30-45 mins at a stretch only. Anything beyond that is waste of everyone's time & effort.
  5. I have always been a fan of intense bursts of work, intermittently followed with adequate rests. Results have shown significant increase of productivity & creativity, as we given time for recouping with the loss of energy & zeal.
  6. As legal professionals, we are dealing with diverse issues, especially in criminal & matrimonial cases. Prolonged exposure to the cases mostly leads to decrease in the emotional connection with our people and treating family & friends without remorse or with the humane feeling. Intermittent rests will aid in bringing back those emotions and keep you connected to the society, leading to healthy life styles.
  7. I cannot comprehend the importance of mental health & physical health. Prolonged working hours, hemorrhages growing capacities & is nothing but successful. Instead, divide your routine to a multitude of activities [such as writing articles as this one] and yet, jack of all trades, master of none wont apply!
  8. Travel. Be it work travel or travel travel. They help clear the mind, understand different cultures & embody the purpose of living. Cramped in a 4*4 wall, working till death, will lead to various mental & physical issues.
  9. I have had projects which required me to work for many days straight. Without sleep, good food or wine. But afterwards, I made it sure that I get some rest to restore lost energy & my social battery back to my strongest self.
  10. Lastly, understand the purpose of your being. Money, managers, seniors, courts, etc. won't carry you to your grave. Family & friends will [probably]. Choose them wisely!
