As a leader, leading by example sets you up as a role model for students, colleagues, and parents. It can inspire students to be their best and foster a positive, motivating environment for everyone. Leading by example garners respect and admiration, which are crucial for effective leadership. Strong educational leadership drives school improvement and curriculum development, creating a positive culture for staff and a high-quality experience for learners. Leading by example means aligning your actions with your words. It's not just about telling people what to do but showing them how it's done. Like children learn from their parents, teams learn from their leaders. Demonstrating values like trust, integrity, and excellence in your actions speaks louder than words. Walk the talk, and watch your school or district thrive. #Leadership #LeadByExample #EducationalLeadership #RoleModel #Inspiration #SchoolImprovement #trailblazerconsultants

Improvement Specialist at Center for Strategic Leadership The Center for Strategic Leadership and Organizational Coherence ⢠Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, United States
EI should be mandatory for school leaders. When vetting school leaders, this SHOULD be a requirement. Do you agree? Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in effective leadership, as it involves understanding and managing our own emotions, as well as recognizing and empathizing with the emotions of othersâ¦which tends to be a huge gap with some of my dear colleagues. I truly feel school leaders with high emotional intelligence are better able to create a positive and supportive school culture, build strong relationships with students, TEACHERS and parents, and effectively manage conflicts and challenges. We are more likely to make informed and empathetic decisions that prioritize the well-being and development of OURSELVES and all stakeholders. You may ask⦠âWhat do you mean Wendy when you say prioritizing?â I mean just that, by prioritizing emotional intelligence in school leadership, and others we can foster a more inclusive, safe (*many meanings of safety) and nurturing educational environment that supports the emotional and social growth (SEL) of both students and STAFF. INTENDED OUTCOME: This can lead to improved academic outcomes, enhanced teacher satisfaction(retention)and a stronger sense of belonging (community) within your school. #emotionalintelligence #emotionalintelligenceleader #emotionalintelligenceschoolleader

I help teachers collaborate and utilize best practices to improve student outcomes | Elementary (Preschool to Grade 8) Principal at the Canadian International School Vietnam
How did Semester 1 go for you? As I sit and reflect, I realize that it roared by faster than I could have imagined. Amid the busyness, I took a Harvard class, Teachers Mentoring Teachers: Practices for Powerful Professional Communities. It was a great reminder that most schools possess leaders on campus. They need to get them out of their silos so that they can work together with their colleagues. Mentoring takes time and adjustments but is necessary for a successful school. #mentoring #education #leadership #educationalleadership #school #change #adaptiveleadership #growth #growthmindset #strategy #innovation #decisionmaking #schoolleadership

Removing roadblocks to team success, giving leaders time to lead. #Elevating Behaviour, not Ticking Boxes.
ð Back to School: A Lesson in Leadership ð Today is the first day back to school for my kids after a summer of fun, laughter, and relaxation. Today, I'm reminded that learning never stopsâwhether youâre still in school or not. As students embrace new challenges, leaders must continually seek growth and development. The start of a new school year is the perfect time for leaders to reflect on their learning journeys and consider: â What new skills will you master? ð¡ What knowledge will you seek to deepen? ð¯ How will you inspire and mentor those around you? Remember, the best leaders are perpetual studentsâalways curious, constantly evolving, and striving to improve. As we support the young learners in our lives, letâs also commit to our growth as leaders. Because in the school of leadership, graduation is never the goalâlifelong learning is. ð Hereâs to a season of learning, growth, and leadership! #Leadership #BackToSchool #ContinuousLearning #GrowthMindset

Is 'initiative overload' becoming a concern in the education sector? In the pursuit of continuous improvement, a common pattern emerges: a cycle of mandatory trainings with the advent of new leadership. Professionalism is essential, yet there's a fine line between enhancing skills and undervaluing the deep competencies that educators already possess. Awareness of balance is crucial. True leadership isnât about reinventing the wheel with each tenure; it's about recognizing and leveraging the wealth of experience and competencies within the organization. Leaders must discern between genuine skill gaps and presumed deficiencies, ensuring that initiatives are meaningful and not merely 'busy work' cloaked in the latest jargon. True educators are, by their nature, lifelong learners. However, when compelled to revisit foundational trainings without necessity, it not only wastes resources but also undermines morale. A critical need exists for a more nuanced approach to teacher development, one that respects existing expertise while strategically addressing areas for growth. The ultimate aim is to enhance our students' education, beginning with the respect and empowerment of those who educate them. #EducationLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeacherEmpowerment"
