I've been working with a client who is currently looking to transition into a different industry.  He has experience working in this industry, but his most recent few experiences do not necessarily align well with the roles he's interested in. I've been meeting so many of you who are going through a similar career transition, so here's what we did to help him land interviews and an upcoming final round:  ð Built out his vision for the type of work he wants to do and set guardrails for the total package he wants (role, company, industry, salary, etc.) ð Tailored his resume and cover letter to these specific roles and built out his interview story to help explain his transition ð Prepared for key behavioral and technical questions then practiced with mock interviews and tweaked his skills as needed  I saw a HUGE improvement in his ability to tell his own story throughout this process making his transition extremely clear.  His confidence and calmness while interviewing improved greatly as we attacked his limiting beliefs and fears as he hadn't interviewed in a while.  By the end of our preparation sessions, he was interviewing beautifully and could answer without any sign of nerves or lack of confidence.  I was excited to hear that in his most recent interview for his ideal role, he excelled and they invited him onsite for a final round.  It has been a pleasure to see this client's transformation in such a short period and I can't wait to hear back when he has his official offer in hand.  If you're looking for a new role and haven't been successfully getting interviews or securing offers, or if you're trying to transition into something different and don't know where to start, book a discovery call with me to discuss where you're at and where you'd like to go: https://lnkd.in/g5r4yTVB

As most resumes are not handed out physically anymore what is everyone's opinions on imbedded links on a candidates resume? Should candidates start putting their Calendy link on their resume? I think it would be really nice if I put my Calendy link on there then the recruiter or HR does not need to ask for my availability they just put something on my calendar. Wow, actually thinking about that I would feel so good waking up some morning with multiple emails of 30 min calls (phone or Google Meet) scheduled instead of rejections. If any of you recruiters in my network want to schedule some time my Calendy is https://lnkd.in/gr7diuam. #openforopportunities #opentowork #data #dataengineerjobs #dataengineer

6 Mistakes You're Making On Your #Resume That's Killing Your Chances of Landing a New Opportunity. 1. You waste valuable real estate at the top of your resume with - Professional Summary, Profile, Summary, Core Competencies, Skills, Areas of Expertise. Professional Skills. Recruiters and hiring managers do not read that stuff. It takes too long. They're looking to see if you have a specific skill set which they need for a particular opening. 2. Failing to list accomplishments. You need to list the results you've produced no matter the capacity - i.e. projects completed that saved time, money, sales accolades, how you made a process more efficient and what was the outcome. You need to list benefits that you provide that make you stand out. 3. Using fancy fonts/design/color/pictures - Nobody cares about those things. If you don't have the skillset or have produced the results in a particular market segment the recruiting/hiring team will discard your resume just as fast without all that. Think we can help you with your resume? Schedule a time to chat with us - https://loom.ly/UUrjQY8 4. Not being specific enough. A resume needs to be specific. I.e. if you're a bridge #engineer you need to list all the details in any project you've been an integral part in including: dates worked on, budget, agencies worked with, clients involved, people or employees of note that would be recognizable in the industry, etc. For #sales #resumes you need to list the health systems, hospitals, private practices of note, private equity groups, key opinion leaders, physicians called on to show the #hiring manager you're well connected. Also, this helps where you need established relationships in order to get a job. 5. Not listing where you wish to relocate. This is simple. Since cover letters went back to the 90's where they belong, where do you put you're looking to relocate? Right under your name and contact information. Say: Looking to relocate to Charleston, SC Relocating to Miami, FL Open to relocating to Phoenix, AZ 6. Using paragraphs of text. Look there's no hard and fast rule here, but no recruiter or #hiring manager is reading multiple paragraphs or blocks and blocks of text. Not happening. If it's really bad it gets deleted! Good news is we can help! Let's schedule a time to chat! - https://loom.ly/UUrjQY8 We charge $300 for our resume services with unlimited revisions for 30 days! #resumewriting
