In a recent report 'The Voice of Women at Work 2023,' it was noted that a strong inner critic is the biggest challenge to women’s success. The biggest factor undermining women’s confidence at work is their own inner critic and self doubt, with 61% of women feeling the impact – a concerning statistic as negative inner discourse impacts the way women show up at work and the actions they will or won’t take.  Similarly, a strong inner critic is the biggest challenge women are facing in their personal life, with 58% impacted by their internal narrative.  And whilst many female entrepreneurs have chosen to step out of the corporate world, and set up their own business, fuelled by a passion to be authentic, innovative and lead with impact.. it does not take long before the same old voices start to chirp up and show up as Imposter Syndrome. Nearly three quarters of the women surveyed (72%) say they have felt imposter syndrome in the past 18 months. At first glance critics might say that it’s women who hold themselves back. But that’s antiquated thinking that doesn’t match the data and the realities of women’s lived experience, nor does it account for the systemic biases that women deal with everyday that contribute to inner critic issues. It’s not all doom and gloom though. There are a huge number of women who are out there smashing it with their business and personal goals.
