I’m happy to share that I answered 8 out of 10 questions correctly, which boosted my confidence and experience. Here’s a breakdown of the questions I faced: 1️⃣ Tell me about yourself – Talked about my background, skills, and passion for data analysis 📊. 2️⃣ Tell me about your previous company and current designation – Shared my experience as a Junior Tableau Developer at Zadley 🧑💻. 3️⃣ What is the difference between Tableau and Power BI? – Explained the strengths of both tools and their use cases 📊 vs 📈. 4️⃣ Which data warehouse do you use in your current company? – Mentioned that we use BigQuery as our data warehouse in the cloud ☁️. 5️⃣ Tell me about joins in SQL – Broke down different types of joins (INNER, LEFT, RIGHT, FULL) 🔗. 6️⃣ What is UNION in SQL? – Explained how UNION combines results from multiple tables 🔄. 7️⃣ Write a query for two tables: Employee (4 columns) and Department (2 columns) with no matching columns, and retrieve all data – Tackled this SQL challenge successfully 💻. 8️⃣ What is a procedure query? – Explained how stored procedures simplify tasks 🔁. 9️⃣ What is Power Query Editor? – Discussed how it helps clean and transform data before analysis in Power BI 🔧. 🔟 What is ETL? – Described the Extract, Transform, Load process and its role in data workflows 🛠️. I placed a Tableau Developer a while back, here's why they stood out to hiring managers. She didn't reinvent the wheel. She just had a really good Tableau Public page. 💥 It was incredibly visual 💥 It was public, for anyone to see 💥 Showed concrete examples of her skills The client was able to make a quick and easy decision about her application. They could: 💥 See how she cleaned, transformed and interpreted the data 💥 See the dashboards, visualisations and data stories she created 💥 See an example of the design and effectiveness of her visualisations 💥 Evaluate her skills and use of tools, features and advanced functions  💥 Evaluate her data storytelling skills and ability to communicate to a non-technical audience The client had a look and was just really impressed. She obviously got the job. 😏 So my advice, do good work and find ways to show it to hiring managers. During the last quarter of 2023, I worked on multiple contract and permanent Power BI Developer roles with clients going through large scale data transformations. While some of the key requirements of these roles were data modelling, ETL and data visualisation, the requirement that was emphasised the most by all hiring managers was the need for excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills. Here are a few of the reasons why: 📈 Hiring managers are seeking Power BI Developers who are able to build trusting relationships with stakeholders in order to gather requirements and take stakeholders along the dashboard development journey. 📉 Power BI Developers play a key role in educating business users on the transition from a legacy BI tool to Power BI and promoting self service reporting. 📊 Data storytelling can only be effectively achieved through extensive stakeholder consultation. This is to ensure that business context, vital metrics and stakeholder objectives are translated into the end visualisation.
