Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH)’s Post

This #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek we’ve published an updated position statement on the role of paediatricians in supporting children and young people’s mental health.   Children’s mental health is everyone’s business and paediatricians have an important role to play in five key areas 👇 1. Promote positive mental health and wellbeing in all interactions 2. Early recognition and intervening or referring as appropriate 3. Consider the biological, psychological and social factors contributing to a child’s presentation 4. Respond well in inpatient and emergency settings 5. Joint working with mental health teams   But we know healthcare professionals cannot tackle the growing mental health emergency alone. 📢 The statement sets out our national policy calls for greater focus on children's health, investment in children's services and support for the paediatric workforce.   Read the position statement: https://lnkd.in/eRD7Qfty

Being a Paediatrician I was fortunate enough to learn the art and science of Community Paediatrics. Hence, I made children's mental health my business to address! Practicing abroad, I could make this into a clinically successful universal practice model for children with Special Needs called The Kolkata Developmental Model! 🫡
