Are you a Project Engineer or Field Engineer in Heavy Civil Construction who is curious about how to reach greater heights in your career? Well then, hereâs a follow up question. How do you feel about Estimating? In my hundreds of conversations with candidates, it is clearer every day that there are three types of people in the industry. Those who love the field and never want to estimate, those that love estimating and donât want to be in the field⦠and then the rare finds who can switch between the two and jump in where they are needed. That last group of candidates can bid their own work, fill in gaps as needed, and generally have a better understanding of the heavy civil industry. In summary, take advantages of opportunities to learn HCSS, Agtek, P6, Bluebeam, etc. because this knowledge will put you leagues above those who donât have it. Hiring Managers out there... what are your thoughts on this?
