Gaali dene wale bhi bahot kaam kiye hai Ola ne, but this one is different. Respect for Bhavish Aggarwal & Ola team Multiple Indian Startups have tried to break the Western Internet Duopoly of Google, Meta etc. PhonePe is trying to Break Google PlayStore by working on Indus Appstore Koo Tried to break X (Twitter) BUT NO ONE has ever come close to the kind of Impact Ola could make. 70% COST reduction in Google Maps pricing says a lot about the Pressure on Google to compete with homegrown Indian Brands Extremely glad to see this. Great win for the Eco-System! Hope many such Instances follow #startup #IndianBrands #makeinindia #funding
It is truly inspiring that Indian startups are now challenging global giants. Ola's move will not only promote competition but will also encourage innovation and local talent. Additionally, it will create new opportunities for small and medium enterprises, which will now benefit from high-quality services at more affordable rates. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian technology ecosystem.
Very true, good to have Indian alternatives. Saw lot of comments, calling him out for unnecessary rage. Let's not forget how Google delisted major Indian apps, requiring government mediation. It's a logical progression of events to decrease reliance on foreign tech giants and foster a more self-reliant digital ecosystem in India.
India has the potential, not it's our turn to support home-grown brands. If Ola maps work out well, all Indian brands should shift towards Ola for their map API related needs.
Thatâs a message for the global giants- we can run truly global businesses from India! ð®ð³
Is it really about western monopoly vs Indian companies efforts. I barely care about where the tech is coming from until and unless itâs good and affordable. In my experience while booking a ride, I see my house on Rapido (using google tech), where Iâm not able to find on Ola ð
People have lot of comments regarding ola copying open street map or building over it. Definitely there must be built from somewhere, ola wasnt making maps form long time. Krutrim and ola maps might not be best, but given resources compny has or competition it faces from players internationally, its a fare start. Lets celebrate this, and why cant we make better products. Some might fail in process like Koo, but more unique are yet to come and replace monopolies.
Ola is likely using Google Maps itself. The price cut for Google Maps is not a response to Ola building another OSM Wrapper; it had been planned for some time. Look at this: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7219950102205878274/
For Maps, user data is critical and which ever platform has the highest user base will win. Having acquired GeoSpoc 3 years back, OLA has played a very strategic move to get into this space and challenge the incumbent with a decent product. Now Ola should immediately launch there own BharatMaps app like Google maps.
