I *finally* hired a marketing leader. 🎉   I waited too long — I took “founder mode” way too far.   Basically tried doing 5 jobs. 🤦♂️   This is not the intent of founder mode, but it’s a classic founder mistake.   Yesterday Eric Linssen started.   It’s a breath of fresh air to have him on the team.   I consider myself a marketing-centric CEO and I’m beyond excited to have a partner in the story telling, audience building, and growth execution that I believe is increasingly important today.   In the early 2020s SaaS marketers could get by with "spray and pray."   Now buyers have raised the bar.   As buyer rigor returns, great products with “good enough” sales & marketing will no longer thrive. Winning now requires GTM excellence.   I believe ICP Marketing is the key.   At Keyplay, we're on a mission to help our customers succeed with an ICP-first methodology.   With Eric onboard we can turn up the volume on that mission. And he'll be building our own ICP Marketing playbook -- practicing what we preach.   I'm pro founder mode.   But I also know that we need a great team. We are currently hiring for multiple senior positions at Upright. The market is not the nicest right now, and I know there are many amazing experienced tech-industry people out there currently thinking of their next gig for various reasons. That's why I'm sending this fairly generic shoutout into the voids of LinkedIn: If you know someone who could be up for a new adventure and a fit with the below description (or perhaps are one yourself) I would love to hear from you. I am especially on the lookout for: people who have been in a P&L responsible or sales/product leadership position when scaling a tech product company from 5M to 20-50M in ARR. Experience from product companies (vs. consulting/services) preferred. Previous titles might have been CRO, Head of Product/CPO, VP Sales, CMO, or something different. As a wild horse, I have a specific hunt for a leader position in our Data team. This is the crown jewel of Upright, the core of what we do. (Data for us does not mean support/analytics, but rather it IS the product.) For this, I'm interested in talking with experienced leaders who possess the rare combination of an exceptionally analytical mind and radical boldness to solve problems that hurt even the best of heads. Background for this can be anything from building highly ambitious data products or quantitative analysis in finance, to structuring the life out of MBB decks - and everything in between.
