It is troubling to know about the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and Milton and the continued impact they will have on communities in Western North Carolina, Florida, and across the Southeast. However, seeing the support and sense of community uplift is a bright reminder of how resilient we prove to be in the hardest of moments. At our dinner table at home, we make a habit of telling each other the hardest thing we’ve done lately. The most interesting part is, sometimes it’s hard for our kids or even my wife and I to think of something to share. In those moments, we flip the script and tell that person all the hard things we see them do. That’s the thing about doing hard things: you become tougher, stronger, and your scale of “hard” gets higher. As I type this, the grid and service providers are working to restore power to millions of homes and businesses in NC, FL, and beyond. As a North Carolina-based business, we are proud to see so many people doing hard things. We are working with a local non-profit, @DurhamRescueMission, to provide aid. Every day, we come to work committed to making a more resilient and reliable grid. These weather events aren’t going away. It’s up to us to take action, lean into innovations, and strengthen our power grid. We know we can do hard things; it is just time for us to start raising the bar. #HurricaneHelene #HurricaneMilton #DisasterRecovery
