It’s not about handing out tickets or prizes like cash; it’s about creating moments where students feel truly seen and valued for their effort. If a ticket isn’t adding that extra layer of meaning, why are we using it? We should focus on what truly makes students feel appreciated. It’s about finding ways to make recognition intentional, not transactional—building genuine connections between students and staff that go beyond a point system. Just like a heartfelt note, recognition in PBIS should be about making students feel special, valued, and part of a community.
