Global Health challenges require innovative approaches and new ways of ensuring equitable access. Check out Solvandria Foundation for the latest in global health acceleration!
A Call to Action for Global Health Equity ð Recent WHO findings spotlight significant disparities in health research funding and resources across economies, underscoring a critical global challenge. Low- and middle-income nations face notable shortages, with only 0.2% of all health research funding reaching these regions. This stark imbalance highlights an urgent need for a balanced approach to health R&D. What surprises us at Solvandria Foundation is not just the scale of these disparities, but how persistently they undermine global health progress. We are stepping into this arena with a focused mission: 1. ððððð¥ðð«ððð¢ð§ð ððð¬ððð«ðð¡: Aiming to catalyze the journey of health innovations from concept to real-world applications, we foster partnerships and support projects with the potential to impact global health. 2. ðð¦ð©ð¨ð°ðð«ð¢ð§ð ð ð®ðð®ð«ð ðð¡ðð§ð ðð¦ðð¤ðð«ð¬: Recognizing the power of knowledge, we're committed to creating educational pathways for aspiring health researchers, contributing to a more inclusive research community. Boston University researchers are invited to learn more about the transformative funding opportunities available through the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), a crucial initiative founded by President Joe Biden in 2022. ARPA-H has already committed over $1 billion to projects addressing some of the most urgent challenges in health and medicine, from cancer therapies and tissue regeneration to infectious disease control and #healthcare access. In support of these ambitious goals, ARPA-H Deputy Director Tyler Best, from the Health Science Futures Mission Office, will visit BU on October 28 to share insights into the agencyâs funding strategies, priorities, and current opportunities for the BU research community. Best will highlight the agencyâs focus on âhigh-risk, high-payoffâ projects designed to tackle complex health problems that other sectors may not readily address. During his visit, Best will discuss ARPA-Hâs unique approach to innovation, emphasizing its mission to achieve not just incremental advancements but radical solutions that drive equitable health outcomes for all Americans. With a strong commitment to addressing health disparities, ARPA-H programs are focused on breakthroughs that will serve underserved and underrepresented communities. Through initiatives like the Emerging Health Innovators (EHI), the agency is engaging early-career researchers and community health centers across diverse networks to reshape the health research landscape. As BU researchers consider applying, Best advises asking questions that probe the impact and transformative potential of their projects: âIs this a problem worth solving? Why now? And how could ARPA-Hâs involvement unlock unprecedented advancements?â ð¬ ð â¡ï¸ http://spr.ly/6007qAZfb

ARPA-H Director Dr. Renee Wegrzyn launched the groundbreaking 100M Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) #SprintForWomensHealth alongside First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and the Gender Policy Council. This sprint marks a significant step forward in advancing the White House Initiative on Womenâs Health Research, aimed at tackling pressing challenges in womenâs health. Watch the historic announcement here: https://lnkd.in/g5Hw3TRu  With a focus on advances in high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity, ARPA-H is addressing data gaps, and tackling diseases uniquely impacting women. The ARPA-H Sprint is poised to revolutionize women's health outcomes. With a commitment to leveraging $100 million in public funding, the Sprint for Womenâs Health is set to boost research and development in this continually underfunded space.  Dr. Wegrzyn emphasizes, âas a woman, and as the Inaugural Director of ARPA-H, I know first-hand that prioritizing health for the women of our nation that represent more than half of our population can wait no longer.â  But what exactly is ARPA-H and why was it started? Here's what you need to know:  ð¬ ARPA-H is a funding agency driving high-impact biomedical research for equitable health solutions. ð Established by President Biden to accelerate biomedical breakthroughs. ð¡ Focuses on breakthrough technologies for a broad range of health challenges. 𩺠Not disease-specific, aiming to revolutionize health solutions for all. ð Independent but collaborative, drawing on NIH's expertise while maintaining autonomy.  WHAM is thrilled that Dr. Wegrzyn will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming WHAM forum in April in Washington DC. We look forward to hearing her insights as we bring together leaders across the ecosystem to implement ambitious, actionable plans to accelerate womenâs health research and investment.  We invite you to support WHAMâs Initiatives by signing up for the #3Not30 Initiative to increase funding for research and innovations, improve access and diversity in clinical trials and mine the data.  Join the 3Not30 Initiative and receive critical updates on womenâs health here: https://lnkd.in/gPkGUjbu  #ARPAH #SprintForWomensHealth #WHAMNow #WomenInSTEM #WomensHealth #HealthcareInnovation #Collaboration

NIHR awards nearly £17 million for global health research projects The NIHR has awarded nearly £17 million to four new global health research projects. The projects aim to carry out targeted research to prevent, treat and manage multiple long-term conditions (MLTC) in low and middle income countries (LMICs). The new awards range between £3 million and £5 million over three to five years. They have been made through the NIHR's Research on Interventions for Global Health Transformation (RIGHT) programme. The RIGHT programme funds interdisciplinary applied health research in LMICs. In 2020, NIHR published its Strategic Framework for Multiple Long-Term Conditions (Multimorbidity) MLTC-M Research. This highlighted MLTC/multimorbidity as an area of strategic priority for NIHR. To continue to build on this area of strategic focus, the NIHR launched a sixth RIGHT call. The focus is on intervention and strategies for improved prevention, treatment and management of multiple long-term conditions. The terms âmultiple long-term conditionsâ or âmultimorbidityâ refer to the existence of two or more long-term conditions in a single individual. There is international recognition that MLTCs are an increasing global health burden. In LMICs, there is a lack of evidence on interactions between common conditions, and how services can best be integrated. Many LMICs face the additional challenges of under-resourced healthcare systems, and limited health infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/eMpjBcz9

Addressing the Challenge of Digitalization Resistance in Public Health Agencies Our research paper titled 'Overcoming Resistance: Understanding the Dynamics of Digital Transformation in Public Health' has laid the foundation for tackling this critical issue. Presented at the 2024 European Conference on Information Systems in Paphos, our study identifies 33 key factors influencing the acceptance or resistance to digitalization in public health institutions. Based on a series of interviews spanning over two years within the EVALDIGE and REDIGE projects, these factors provide valuable insights into fostering acceptance or managing resistance. Our next steps involve validating these findings and assessing their impact on digitalization efforts. For those interested in learning more, you can access the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ed793e_d Thank you, Anna Lina Wolf, Melina S. and Torsten Eymann for the efficient and pleasant collaboration.
