ARPA-H Director Dr. Renee Wegrzyn launched the groundbreaking 100M Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) #SprintForWomensHealth alongside First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and the Gender Policy Council. This sprint marks a significant step forward in advancing the White House Initiative on Womenâs Health Research, aimed at tackling pressing challenges in womenâs health. Watch the historic announcement here: https://lnkd.in/g5Hw3TRu  With a focus on advances in high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity, ARPA-H is addressing data gaps, and tackling diseases uniquely impacting women. The ARPA-H Sprint is poised to revolutionize women's health outcomes. With a commitment to leveraging $100 million in public funding, the Sprint for Womenâs Health is set to boost research and development in this continually underfunded space.  Dr. Wegrzyn emphasizes, âas a woman, and as the Inaugural Director of ARPA-H, I know first-hand that prioritizing health for the women of our nation that represent more than half of our population can wait no longer.â  But what exactly is ARPA-H and why was it started? Here's what you need to know:  ð¬ ARPA-H is a funding agency driving high-impact biomedical research for equitable health solutions. ð Established by President Biden to accelerate biomedical breakthroughs. ð¡ Focuses on breakthrough technologies for a broad range of health challenges. 𩺠Not disease-specific, aiming to revolutionize health solutions for all. ð Independent but collaborative, drawing on NIH's expertise while maintaining autonomy.  WHAM is thrilled that Dr. Wegrzyn will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming WHAM forum in April in Washington DC. We look forward to hearing her insights as we bring together leaders across the ecosystem to implement ambitious, actionable plans to accelerate womenâs health research and investment.  We invite you to support WHAMâs Initiatives by signing up for the #3Not30 Initiative to increase funding for research and innovations, improve access and diversity in clinical trials and mine the data.  Join the 3Not30 Initiative and receive critical updates on womenâs health here: https://lnkd.in/gPkGUjbu  #ARPAH #SprintForWomensHealth #WHAMNow #WomenInSTEM #WomensHealth #HealthcareInnovation #Collaboration

Investment in Women's Health Research is needed NOW. Women are not "little men" as they have mistakenly been classified for much of medical research. Diseases appear differently in women then men (#heartattack). Let's invest in improving the health of 51% of the population. #womenshealth #healthresearch #womenshealthresearch

ACTION ALERT-CO-SIGN LETTER FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH RESEARCH FUNDING BY APRIL 15! It's evident that #policy decisions affect women's health in all sorts of ways, and one way that is most evident is through funding for women's health research. Lack of such research leaves gaps in medical knowledge and less opportunities to inform innovation that can help improve women's health. In recent months, collective advocacy influenced the launch of significant women's health initiatives, including a proposed $12 billion to improve #womenshealth through research, services and #innovation and a $100 million #healthresearch program, announced by the White House. More promise of progress in #womenshealth #womenshealthresearch Just announced: President Joe Biden signed an executive order Monday aimed at expanding research on womenâs health care, including strengthening data standards. The president also announced more than 20 new actions and commitments by federal agencies, including $200 million for research at the National Institutes of Health. The White House described the investments as a first step toward a âFund on Womenâs Healthâ that Biden called on Congress to invest in during his State of the Union address this month. The president also announced more than 20 new actions and commitments by federal agencies to advance women's health research, including $200 million for the National Institutes of Health. The executive actions follow first lady Jill Bidenâs announcement last month of $100 million in funding for womenâs health. #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #healthequity https://lnkd.in/ecCXHMhE

President Biden has signed an executive order aimed at transforming womenâs health research and innovation across America. This action calls for a bold investment of $12 billion to establish a nationwide network of research centers and a Fund for Womenâs Health Research at the NIH. But why is this so important, and what can we realistically expect? For too long, womenâs health issues have been sidelined, with significant gaps in research and understanding of conditions uniquely or disproportionately affecting women, from cardiovascular diseases to autoimmune disorders and menopause-related conditions. This deficiency stems from years of oversight, where women were often underrepresented in clinical research, leading to a lack of tailored medical advice and treatment options. President Bidenâs executive order aims to rectify these imbalances by ensuring womenâs health is integrated and prioritized across the federal research portfolio. This includes: ⢠Directing $200 million towards NIH for interdisciplinary womenâs health research. ⢠Launching more than twenty new actions by federal agencies to promote innovation and research in womenâs health. ⢠Narrowing research gaps on diseases associated with womenâs midlife health. ⢠Assessing unmet needs and supporting private sector innovation through additional federal investments. Optimistic Yet Cautious This executive order marks a pivotal step towards addressing the long-standing disparities in womenâs health research. Itâs a promise of a future where womenâs health issues are no longer an afterthought but a priority, potentially leading to breakthroughs that could transform lives. However, itâs crucial to temper our optimism with realism. The success of this ambitious plan hinges on congressional approval and effective implementation. Itâs a significant stride in the right direction, but thereâs much work to be done. Letâs be cautiously optimistic and stay engaged in advocating for and supporting initiatives that push womenâs health research to the forefront. This initiative isnât just about women; itâs about creating a healthier future for everyone by understanding and addressing the unique health challenges half the population faces. #WomensHealth #Innovation #Research #HealthcarePolicy #femaletech #nihgrants https://lnkd.in/dX_9M5ta

"For far too long, scientific and biomedical research excluded women and undervalued the study of womenâs health. The resulting research gaps mean that we know far too little about womenâs health across womenâs lifespans, and those gaps are even more prominent for women of color, older women, and women with disabilities."Â - EO on Advancing Womenâs Health Research and Innovation (3/18/24) Within this context, President Biden is issuing an executive order "to bolster women's health research, while federal agencies are announcing new steps to close long-standing gender gaps in clinical trials and care." - Axios WH EO fact sheet: https://lnkd.in/eRJm8Fm6 Executive Order: https://lnkd.in/eiVT6f9w Axios: https://lnkd.in/eUC5vjXY

April is National Minority Health Month. (1) Health disparities are differences in how populations access, experience, and receive healthcare. (2) Factors that influence such differences include social, economic, and environmental disadvantages, provider biases, poor provider-patient communication, and low health literacy. (2) Luminology partners with our clients to ensure unbiased and inclusive medical communications through the following practices: â Promoting increased diversity in clinical trials â Collaborating with influential programs such as the African American Wellness Project â Critical review of new data to determine areas of bias â Crafting project teams with a diverse collection of staff â Supporting inclusive patient and clinician advisory boards to develop product access solutions #NationalMinorityHealthMonth #Luminology #medcomms References: 1.
