A reminder that all crimes have victims and it's the victims we should focus on, not the perpetrators. A lack of consequences emboldens criminals and those of you that advocate for lenient sentencing and make claims like "prison doesn't work" do victims like the one mentioned in this article a terrible disservice. I get sick of the pandering and naivety of people sometimes. Mark my words, this early prison release will be a disaster for communities and endangers us all. Solution? Build new prisons urgently. If there is no money, then 'quantitative easing'; print it. Repurpose buildings into makeshift prisons as necessary, and use the army if required. Basically, move mountains to fulfill the most critical responsibility of any government overseeing a civilised society, i.e. to keep the decent segments of the population safe from harm. https://lnkd.in/e6YshJBF

🤔 What does ‘child-friendly’ space mean in the context of prison environments? Prison environments are often intimidating and not designed with children in mind. Yet, maintaining a close connection between children and their imprisoned parents is vital for their emotional well-being and development. Child-friendly spaces in prisons play a crucial role in helping children feel safe and supported during visits, allowing them to engage in meaningful contact with their parents without the added stress of a harsh environment. When spaces are child-friendly, the benefits to children include increased emotional security, a greater sense of stability and the encouragement to express their emotions more openly and engage in meaningful communication 🎥 A video created by the Department of Justice, Rights and Memory of the Government of Catalonia shows what a child-friendly space looks like in prison.
