- One of the biggest perks of running a freelance business is also one of the biggest challenges. You are your own boss. There's no one else telling you what you should do or when to have it done. It's up to you everyday to make sure you're making the best decisions for your business. So how do you know what you should be spending your time on? How do you decide what's priority? This question comes down to goal setting, one of the most important aspects of running a sustainable freelance business. Think of it this way, when you get into your car and just start driving, if you didn't have a destination, how would you know when to stop driving? Goals give you that destination. Once you know your target, it's much easier to chart a path for getting there. I recommend setting very specific measurable goals. Remember the SMART goal-setting system they taught us in school?
