Verizon designed the user experience and technical requirements and had Asurion develop the interface and integrate the McAfee anti-malware to their lost phone/anti-theft…

    (2009) With the growth of smart open devices like Android, we started exploring mobile security technology to bring to our consumer base, especially with our interest in launching Mobile commerce and mobile health. We evaluated several anti-malware companies in the mobile space before we settled on our partner McAfee. Verizon designed the user experience and technical requirements and had Asurion develop the interface and integrate the McAfee anti-malware to their lost phone/anti-theft features.

    We took the product to market as a freemium product. The app is preloaded and the anti-malware was free to customers and they could upgrade to the paid full version for $1.99, from their device of from the web at vzw.com. or they could sign up for the Total Equipment Coverage, that includes the preimum version of Mobile Security and Asurion's insurance & extended warrenty programs. The free anti-malware served as peace of mind to the customer and to our network team. Also if the customer is ever in a pinch (ie lost their device or had it stolen) they can sign up on line and lock, wipe or locate the device.

  • SureResponse - Verizon Mobile Personal Emergency Response System

    SureResponse is Verizon Wireless' first M-Health service. It is a dual mode personal emergency response device that provide reliable coverage in-home and out of home. It is a class 1 FDA registered device. SureResponse is a wearable, water resistant device so users can be sure to have it with them in all situations. The device is a one-touch compact cell phone with location tracking capability. Its generations a head of any in home services and priced to be more affordable.
