American Express is celebrating the 15th annual Small Business Saturday® on November 30, 2024. To commemorate the milestone year and its longstanding support of small businesses, American Express will host a special performance by singer-songwriter, Noah Kahan, at the historic Riviera Theater and a holiday pop-up market in the vibrant small business community of Charleston, South Carolina.    âAmerican Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010, coming out of the US financial crisis, to help drive consumer spending at small businesses when they needed it most. Since then, the day has sparked a movement and truly made an impact â with consumers reporting spending over $200 billion at small businesses,â said Elizabeth Rutledge, Chief Marketing Officer, American Express. âWe are celebrating in a big way this year, while continuing to meet the needs of small businesses around the country.â    Read more about the events in Charleston and how you can make a difference in your community by shopping small: https://lnkd.in/emzRrhYH

Last week, the U.S. Chamber Foundation and USAID convened a private roundtable with corporate leaders to discuss crucial support for Ukraine as winter approaches. Ambassador Erin McKee briefed attendees on the severe impact of recent attacks on Ukraineâs energy grid and highlighted two key funds vetted by USAIDâthe Ukraine Humanitarian Fund and the Ukraine Energy Support Fundâas effective channels for providing urgent aid. Together, weâre strategizing meaningful philanthropic investments to help Ukraine meet its winter needs and maintain resilience through the season. #BusinessSolves

Together with American Express, we launched a new grant program to support small businesses impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Our President Michael Carney announced this on Fox Business referencing the recovery data, "It is a devastating situation, especially in places that were hit by both storms... in lots of places, revenue and sales are approaching pre-crisis levels, but there are a few places that are really lagging." He was joined by American Express Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Jennifer Skyler who explained, "Supporting businesses in times of need is part of our DNA." Applications are open for $5 million in funding, which includes $5,000 grants for 1,000 small businesses. Plus, on #SmallBizSat, American Express will also donate $1 for each Card Member purchase at participating small businesses to expand its grant commitment.
