UIDP is a recognized leader in addressing issues impacting academic-corporate collaboration, providing a unique forum for our member representatives to find better ways to partner. We are a solutions-oriented organization. Our member representatives identify issues impacting university-industry (U-I) relations and together, we find practical solutions to shared challenges impeding success, irrespective of who we are or where we work. Organizational decision makers in corporate/academic relations, research leadership and administration, and workforce/talent development actively participate in UIDP programs to maximize their investment in existing and future U-I collaborations.

    What a terrific example of multi-sector partners joining forces for societal good. Kudos to UIDP members University of Michigan and Boehringer Ingelheim on this partnership with nonprofit Mary Tyler Moore Vision Consortium to develop new research to combat diabetic retinal disease.

    Great opportunity for faculty from emerging research institutions to collaborate on cutting-edge research--and to bring two students with them. The Department of Energy’s Office of Science is accepting applications for its 10-week Summer 2025 Visiting Faculty Program. Faculty at emerging research institutions can collaborate with national lab researchers on projects of mutual interest. Faculty may invite up to two students to join the project. Returning VFP participants can apply to participate in a 10-week experience in spring or fall terms and receive financial support for a teaching buyout. The application deadline is January 8.     The U.S. Department of Energy OTT is sponsoring the American-Made EnergyTech University Prize (EnergyTech UP). Student teams compete for $400,000 in cash prizes for identifying a promising energy technology, assessing its market potential, and creating a business plan for commercialization. Faculty are challenged to create innovative implementation plans that expand energy technology commercialization. DOE also provides students with materials and mentorship.
