🌟 Exciting Day for UB ITE Student Chapter! 🌟 On September 19, 2024, the University at Buffalo ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) Student Chapter had the privilege of attending the ITE Upstate New York Section Annual Meeting, held right here in Buffalo! 🚦🚍 This event brought together industry professionals, vendors, researchers, and students to discuss the latest trends and innovations in transportation engineering. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to learn from expert speakers, engage in meaningful discussions, and expand our professional networks. 🌐 The event included a tour to UB TRAVL lab. Where UB team, including Dr. Austin Angulo, Dr. Hulme, Ye Wang, and Gongda Yu, had the opportunity to present the TRAVL lab, highlighting its capabilities and the exciting research UB is currently working on. They also hosted a massive demo session featuring four different types of simulators, allowing participants to experience cutting-edge technology firsthand. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive! 💻🚗 Congratulations to Gongda Yu for being announced as the James Pond Student Scholarship Award winner during the event. This is a well-deserved recognition of his hard work and dedication. Special thanks to the ITE Upstate New York Section for organizing this insightful gathering and giving students like us the chance to connect with leading voices in the field. Yesterday was a landmark day for our University at Buffalo ITE Student Chapter as we hosted the 2024 ITE Northeastern District Traffic Bowl. We are thrilled to report that the event was a resounding success, made possible by the dedication of our e-board and the tremendous support from ITE - A Community of Transportation Professionals, University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences along with all attendees. A huge shoutout to everyone who made the journey to UB and contributed to making this event memorable. Our special thanks go to the New Jersey Institute of Technology, UMass Transportation Center (UMTC), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), UCONN Chapter and NYU Tandon School of Engineering for coming all the way to UB! Congratulations to the NYU team for winning this year's Traffic Bowl! Special thanks to our UB ITE team for securing an impressive 2nd place! We hope all participating teams enjoyed both the competition and their visit to Buffalo and Niagara Falls. This year has been filled with incredible guests and events at our chapter, and we're excited for what the next semester holds. In about a few weeks, on April 13th, the University at Buffalo will have the privilege to host the annual Traffic Bowl Competition of the ITE Northeastern District! The University at Buffalo ITE Student Chapter is proud to host this event in Buffalo this year. We are impatient to welcome all the ITE teams from University of Massachusetts Amherst , New York University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and University of Connecticut. During their stay in Buffalo, our guest will have the opportunity to discover our beautiful campus during a tour. They will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour of the marvelous area of Niagara falls. This year, the UB ITE team is composed of the talented undergraduate students, Vinícius N., Tucker Velepec and Dan Benetti. They are coached by two Ph.D. students ,the coordinator of the Traffic Bowl Jiajun Pang and the current president of the UB ITE Chapter, Gongda Yu. Lastly, we would like to invite all students/faculty from Buffalo , ITE Northeastern District, ITE NY Upstate to join us during Traffic Bowl and support all teams. Traffic Bowl will take place in Clemens Hall, Room 120, on April 13th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. We hope everyone will have fun!

Earlier today our UB ITE Chapter hosted a presentation of Wavetronix technology! UB students interested in transportation had the opportunity to learn more about traffic signals and intelligent transportation systems. This great presentation from Dan Vincent also included a live demo of their software: Crossroads. Our deepest gratitude toward the Wavetronix team for coming to Buffalo and special thank to Eric Newman for his continued support to our chapter. Next month will be Traffic Bowl at UB! We hope to see many people there!

After yesterday's wonderful seminar, the next one is already close! On March 12th, Eric Newman and Dan Vincent will present the work of Wavetronix on traffic signals and crossroads and intersections. This seminar is a great opportunity to discover how to bridge the gap between engineers and field technicians. It includes a presentation of crossroads software. We are looking forward to see many people coming for this seminar. It will take place in Jarvis Hall, room 223 from 1PM to 2PM.

Today was the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council presentation for UB ITE! Students and faculty had the opportunity to see more about how GBNRTC collect and process transportation data. We are very glad to see so people coming to this seminar. Our Gratitude to Mike Finn, Kim Smith, Michael Davis and Volney Powell for their incredible presentation. It was immensely enlightening for everyone. We also thank James Jones for his continued support to UB ITE chapter. Our next seminar will be announced very soon. We hope to see as many people as today!

With the beginning of a new semester, the UB ITE seminars are back! For our first session, we offer a great opportunity to learn more about what transportation data can tell us. The Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council graciously accepted to present an overview of their data collection and organization process. This presentation will include a LIVE DEMO of the implementation of the regional transportation demand model used in the Greater Buffalo-Niagara area. This is a chance for students to learn more about data they use at university. Make sure to join us on February 28th in Baldy Hall, room 127 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

With the end of the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting 2024, our UB ITE Chapter members would like to share their gratitude for the opportunity of joining this conference. Some of our members have been able to present their work during the UB reception. We are very happy that so many people from different organizations came to see the work of UB students and faculty. This reception was a formidable opportunity fot us students to get more experience and enhance our presentation skills. Our heartful gratitude toward the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences for organizing this event. We are very excited toward joining again the TRB Annual Meeting next year.

After a short break to enjoy end of the year Holidays, members of our UB ITE Chapter (Jiajun Pang, Gongda Yu, Emeric Humbert, Ye Wang) will join the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington DC and show their research work during the University at Buffalo reception, on Monday 8th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Our former member Kaiser Mahmood, Ph.D. will also present his work during the TRB Annual Meeting. We look forward to see him again.
